Title: Self-realizations / A Part of Me I can never get back again

I look in the mirror

What do I see?

I don’t recognize this figure

Although it’s supposed to be me

Pale skin, blue eyes,

brown hair, fair face.

And a crooked little smile

that looks out of place

Hands to the side,

a knife in one palm

Looking at her reflection,

she’s losing her calm.

Her arm quivers,

the blade drops to the floor,

One glance in the mirror,

and she runs out the door.

She runs and runs,

never stopping to rest,

Houses pass far in the distance

long before she runs out of breath.

Who was that girl back there?

was that really me?

She looked drowned and dead,

washed away by the sea.

I used to be happy,

All this pain I would feign,

but now it’s exploded,

and so it shall forever remain.

This little girl changed,

from who she used to be,

Into what she is now,

/into/ the person that is me.

I can never go back,

to when times were okay,

when everything was perfect,

the sky unmisted with grey.

I guess I have to accept

Who I am now,

The sad, pitiful girl

Whose happiness she can never allow.
