Author's Notes: So here we are the true ending of Desert Song. It's been a long road (mainly because of that hiatus I took), but once I returned, I came back with all barrels blazing, and now here we are. Well, I hope you've enjoyed reading this sequel. I know this is the third go around with this particular sequel, after two previous failed attempts. The problem with those were the fact I was basically ruining everything established by the first story by making Aiden fall for another guy, which was just lame. Having him and Max be together made sense, and the fact is, I just loved writing them too much to pass them up. Anyhow, enough blabbering. I hope you've enjoyed reading this as much as I've enjoyed writing it, and hopefully this isn't the last we've seen of Max and Aiden. Check back sometime around Christmas (likely Christmas day) for a nice little surprise. Enjoy!

Epilogue

3 months later…

It was a cool January afternoon as Aiden stood by his mother’s headstone with flowers in hand. He stood silently, admiring the timeless photograph of his mother on the stone, smiling lightly. He laid the flowers at the foot of the tombstone and tucked his hands away in his pockets as he breathed a sigh.

“Hey, Mom,” he said softly, “it’s been a while, huh? Sorry I haven’t been by lately, I’ve just been busy as usual. A lot’s happened the past few months. I’ve started a new job, taken lead of a band, and just recently I’ve moved in with my new boyfriend. Things are finally getting back on track now.”

There were footsteps behind Aiden. He glanced behind him and smiled when he saw Max standing there with his hands tucked in his fleece jacket. Aiden gestured for him to come over to him, and he did. He hooked his arm around Max’s and smiled.

“This is my boyfriend, Max,” Aiden said. “I wish you could have met him in person. I’m sure you would have liked him.”

“It’s nice to meet you, Mrs. Haliburton,” Max said genially.

Aiden laid his head on Max’s shoulder lovingly, and sighed.

“Well, I’m sorry to cut our meeting short, but now that everything’s settled down now, I should have time to see you more often,” Aiden said. “Anyhow, tell Ashton I love him, and to stay out of trouble. I’ll see you both in a few days, okay? I love you. See you soon.”

“Later, Mrs. Haliburton,” Max said, giving a wave goodbye as he and Aiden started back to the car. As they walked up a small hill back to the car, neither of them said a word. Max opened Aiden’s car door, closing it when he got in. Seconds later, Max got in, and put his seatbelt on. They sat in silence for a while, staring out of the front window until they turned to face another, and smiled.

“What next?” Max asked.

Aiden looked down, and put a hand on Max’s. He looked back up, smiling slyly. Max chuckled, started the car, and shifted gears. Once they pulled out of their parking place, they drove off and just kept on going with no end in sight.
