Neo Dark Age
Historical Prologue
The year was 2009. The supply of oil in the Middle East finally dwindled to nothing causing the economy of most countries to falter. In response, the United States voted to drill in Alaska, but contrary to their belief. There was no oil to be found there.
The world’s reliance, more the human race’s than anything else, on fossil fuels proved to be its downfall as the entire world was thrown into economic poverty. Those who were rich lived in luxury while the poor suffered. This lasted for a time as the many nations of the world tried to rebuild from the lapse in ability.
The end of the motor vehicle was issued in late 2010. Thousands of cars, trucks, motorcycles, and any other device that relied on oil was melted down and used for other uses. This had two side effects, one good and one bad. The population steadily declined most of the obese either died for their legs could no longer have supported them and thus had no mobility or they returned to fit shape as they started to walk to get their food. Food shortages around the globe caused mass panic, especially in the wealthy nations that now learned what carrying capacity was the hard way.
The good that came of this was the abolition of the modern firearm as the use of the sword was once again appropriate. Some nations however refused to except the return of the age of what they called “inferior weaponry.” After all, a gun was more powerful and could hit at farther range from the blade. They failed to realize that their precious power that those weapons gave died with the automobile. No longer was one able to stockpile weapons that had limited functionality in this new age. It just wasn’t cost effective to have the huge amounts of ammunition shipped by something as slow as a horse drawn carriage, the new commonly accepted mode of transport as of 2013.
Then war began amongst the nations of the world, but not between each other. Civil war took the landscape. The most prevalent was that of the separation of the United States into three pieces. The North kept the designation of the United States and continued living as democratically as possible, the Southern States broke away and returned to that of an isolationist society with all the high powered guns that one could hope for, and the West. The large vast west is where it was said that she was born.
It had been over twelve strait years since the massive civil wars struck the world in which she strode. Her visage was a rumor to those who were born after or never witnessed it, and a nightmare to the survivors. She had short black hair that wrapped a delicate soft face of white porcelain skin. Her clothes were black with red trim and on her back was a tribal design of a dragon being overcome by flames. This earned her one of her nicknames “The Flame Dragon,” though for those who actually lived through an encounter with her would tell you. She was the embodiment of war itself. Her movements on the battle field were cold and precise, her shimmering silver kantana cutting through anyone who dared enter her path. It was as if she just wanted to massacre as many people as she could. The reports though left out what her most startling feature was. Her deep red eyes echoed her killing intent.
She had effectively ended the war in the U.S. Later, it was said that others like her had sprouted up across the world and did the same as her, ended the wars, some with little bloodshed and some with genocide behind them. These beings though disappeared shortly after the war was ended; thus, leaving the chaos in the care of the people left behind. The year was now 2025.
