Alliances
Lexa heard the ocean. She felt the waves washing up onto her legs and heard the echoing sounds of them silently swashing against the rocks around her. She groaned as her eyes tiredly opened to reveal the face of a young girl looking back at her. Her green eyes mimicked Lexa’s in color and they shimmered in joyful splendor.
“It is good to see that you are awake.” The girl said with a gentle tone as the frightened Lexa shot up to a seated position. It was then that she noticed she was in an inland cove that let out into the sea. In the distance was a large sailing ship that was tied to a rock.
“Thanks,” Lexa responded to the girl’s comment. “May I ask who you are?”
“Oh, right.” The girl stood and bowed politely toward Lexa. The girl was covered almost a hundred percent in cloth for some reason, but Lexa didn’t know why. “My name is Svy Atonom. I am the Magi of Fission. It is a pleasure to meet you.”
“I’m Lexa.” The armored girl said as she stood and brushed herself off. “I’m not quite sure what is going on the last thing I remember was a church collapsing while I was fighting some chick named Heather.” Lexa replayed the events in her mind to try to come up with some logical explanation to what happened.
“You are lucky that you survived an encounter with the Magi of Hellfire.” Svy chucked as she began walking toward the ship. “That and you gave us a scare. Almost landed right on our heads.”
“Wait, who’s us, and where am I?” Lexa asked as she picked up her sheathed sword and ran after the girl. Moments later the two were at the ship to witness three others clearing rocks off the deck.
“Man there sure is a lot of rubble. Don’t see why we park in that place sometimes.” A girl wearing heavy white armor said rapidly before rushing to great the two and making it in seconds to the two walking on the beach.
Svy had at least filled Lexa in on the predicament and that they were a group of travelling heroes looking for people to help, of course for a price but that didn’t matter. Svy however did not prepare Lexa for the high speed talking of the woman that was pestering her with questions.
“Yes, no, maybe, only if we have thyme left, depends, yes, and fourteen.” Svy said as the white armored girl caught her breath. “Mach this is Lexa. Lexa this is Mach. She’s our own personal speed demon and the Magi of Friction.”
“Pleasure to meet you there. Lexa was it. You don’t look very special to me, but then again I haven’t met a lot of special people.” Mach spoke her speed not stopping even though she had.
“So that’s the girl that the Old Hag said beat the Magi of Hellfire.” A boy cockily said as he looked over the three from on top of the ship. Mach quickly returned to moving rubble off of the deck of the ship. “You’re not very impressive looking. In fact, I think I can beet you right now.”
“And you are?” Lexa asked as she watched the boy jump from the deck and land in front of her. Attached to his side was a Chinese short sword and he quickly drew it. His dress was that of a normal, well normal compared to Lexa. He wore a blue shirt with a black and white vest over it, and his pants were Japanese hakama that looked to be from an old costume with pockets built in.
“Daniel, there isn’t any reason to fight.” Svy tried to interject but was shot down as an elderly voice echoed over the group.
“Let them be. I wish to see this newcomer’s power.” A blind elderly woman had walked up to the railing and was watching the fight. She was wearing flowing green robes covered in a large green cloak.
“This should be over soon enough.” Lexa said as she drew the broken stump of her sword. Her eyes lit up in fear as to what she saw. Wasn’t her sword perfectly fine when she was fighting that Heather chick? If it was then why was it like this now.
“How are you going to win with such an insignificant weapon like a broken claymore.” Daniel said as he ran at Lexa and thrust his sword forward to be narrowly blocked by Lexa’s broken weapon.
Lexa was able to repel Daniel’s first attack, but unable to counter. She had barly and inch of sword attached to her hand guard. She needed to think of something. She couldn’t remember how she had done it but she had repaired her sword before. She had to be able to do it again.
Another deflected attack only this time Daniel’s sword cleaved off a piece of what was left of the blade and part of the hand guard. Daniel chuckled as he saw Lexa breathing heavily. She hadn’t moved that much but she was tired for some reason.
“I’m guessing that that armor’s pretty heavy isn’t it.” Daniel said solemnly. “Maybe this would be the best time to tell you. I’m known as the Magi of Mass. I can change the density of whatever I want as long as my body can come in contact with it. Right now I’m affecting my sword and your armor, which should be about as heavy as lead by now, because it sure is as dense as it.”
“Why you.” Lexa complained. She didn’t know any fancy abilities like that. She didn’t even know how to reform her sword. What was she going to do. Now she was way too heavy to move. She’d be hit by his next attack for sure.
“Time to end this, because there is no way that you were able to beat to Magi of Hellfire.” Daniel ran toward her and leapt into the air.
It was do or die time now. She either did whatever she did in the church or she was killed. Her eyes glowed slightly as she closed them and focused. She couldn’t run her armor was too heavy. She couldn’t block, his sword would just go right through. She had to attack, but to do that she needed another sword. The stump she held couldn’t attack. Then her blade felt heavier but balanced. Did she do it? She’d know soon enough.
Lexa dropped her blade and brought it up as quickly as she opened her eyes to see that the rocks hand compacted around the stump and reformed the sword. Following the earthen blade was a large spire of earth that Daniel narrowly avoided and landed softly on the ground, skidding to a stop across from Lexa as she entered an aggressive stance.
“Enough,” the elderly woman spoke. “There will be no more fighting today. Mach has finished so I say it is time for us to be on our way.”
“On your way to where?” Lexa asked. She still had no idea where she had ended up.
“Our next stop will be a small port outside of London.” The woman spoke as Lexa’s armor once again felt light enough to move. “If you would like to join us.”
“Yes please.” Lexa spoke calmly as she followed Daniel up the ramp onto the deck of the ship. The lady then introduced herself as Hihie Gigonkon, and explained to Lexa that she was also a Magi and possessed incredible power, but what Lexa did with that power was totally up to the woman that possessed it.
AN: Introduced a lot of characters in this chapter. Hence the short length, but the next chapter will be much longer. I hope. Anyway please enjoy.
