A/N: I know this chapter is shorter then the last two, well first of it's all Mimi's fault, and second of all the next two chapters will be longer. Promise. Reviews are always welcomed, and favor will be returned, and there is also a poll, check it out.
Mimi
People who don’t know me think that the show I put on is just that, a show. What they don’t get about me is that I stopped caring about what people thought of me or my behavior since I was in sixth grade. Why did I stop caring? Because I didn’t want to waste all my energy pleasing others that won’t even remember my name ten years from now.
After the showdown that happened in front of the school building I headed straight to my families café where I was forced to work; hey, cars don’t come cheap these days. People like Ellie and Justin should just shut their pothole and move on with their lives. But Ellie’s not the kind of girl to let go of something, even something that happened a year ago.
I was flipping through a magazine when Robyn walked through the door.
“I want a French Vanilla,” She said. I’m ashamed to say that I pretty much grew up with Robyn.
I sighed, “Off duty, you know where everything is, get it yourself.” I responded not even looking up. All these Photoshop pictures were the reason why this world was coming to an end pretty soon.
Robyn began talking again, “So I heard that Ellie told Justin off,” The thing about small towns is that nothing is kept a secret. Just like high school, when something happens even before school starts, people find out about it just as first hour ends and second hour begins. I looked at Robyn through the curtain of my blond hair, “Well…?”
“Well what?” I responded annoyed.
“What happened? You’re Ellie’s best friend. You should know all the details.” I rolled my eyes.
I groaned, “What goes on in Ellie’s life is her business, and her business only.” Then Robyn laughed.
“Right…Mimi, everyone knows that you know everything about everyone, so spill.” Then her eyes grew, “you never did tell me what had happened in Denmark.” I rolled my eyes. Last year we had taken a school trip to Denmark, and some students, like Robyn, didn’t go because they were failing every single class. The only reason I was even considered going was because Ellie and her witty mind had got me on that plane.
I put my magazine away, “Look Robyn, I already told you everything. We went to Denmark, saw a few sites, bought a few things, the hotel burned down, along with a few buildings, and we had to return early.” I shrugged. “Nothing much to tell.”
Robyn was not satisfied with this answer. “Why can’t you just give me play by play?” she asked.
“Because then, I would never go home.” I answered as I turned away from her and turned on the blender as high as possible so I didn’t catch what she had said next.
.x.x.x.
It was around midnight when I was heading downstairs and I saw Ellie sitting down on my couch.
“There you are,” She said quickly as I walked towards the living room. “Can you believe Justin? How dare he have the nerve to say that he loves that India girl when he doesn’t even know the true meaning of love? Sometimes I wonder what his problem is.” I sat down as she stood up and began to pace in front of me. “Do you think it would be too much for him to man up for once and admit that he doesn’t have the balls to love anyone? I only wanted to help that girl and he doesn’t get the point that he can’t play with someone’s heart. I am not going to let that happen anymore! He has played with the last heart! I told Jenny that Justin was her biggest mistake, but she couldn’t help but fall in love with his stupid eyes. Those eyes are nothing but a lie. Just like his love. His love is nothing but a lie. And I’ll prove it to anyone. I’ll prove it to the world. You understand, right?”
I blinked before saying, “How did you get into my house?”
She sighed, “Mimi, just because you put your key behind your flower pot in your window sill, does not mean that it’s hidden.”
“But if I hide it in the soil then I’d never find it.” I argued back.
She groaned as she sat on the wooden coffee table. “Look, we are disgusting Justin.”
“No you’re disgusting Justin, I’m going back to bed to dream of Johnny Depp,” I responded as I got up.
“C’mon Mimi, I need you,” She said sadly. I rolled my eyes sitting down again.
“Look Ellie. Let the guy be. He’ll grow up…eventually.” I shrugged.
“You’re only saying that because you don’t know what he’s done to all those girls.”
“He didn’t commit murder…”
“So, cheating and lying is still a sin!”
“What is this Bible Study 101? A seventeen year old boy doesn’t care about committing sin; all he cares about is what chick he can get his arms around, and how many worms to eat the next day.” She rolled her eyes. I love Ellie, I really do, but there are days where if I shot her then I’d be happy. I stood up ready to head up stairs.
“And you have to understand that if you don’t help me, I’ll show your parents the video of you at Jackson’s party, which you were forbidden to go.” I turned around and headed back to the couch.
“So where do we start?”
.x.x.x.
With Ellie at my heels I walked upstairs and quickly turned on my laptop. Trust me when I say I would rather be dead then help Ellie ruin someone’s life. It’s not like I’m supporting what Justin’s doing to all those girls, but I also don’t care what he does in his life. Justin is who he is; I’ve grown to accept that since we were in pre-K. But someone doesn’t seem to get the picture.
“Okay, let’s get some info on this Alicia Yadav.” Computers and I work too well together that it’s not even funny. I went through the search engine, and found that she lived in the Hindu community, about a mile or two up from where I live. I found this out because she was a new member of the temple. But that was all that they said which made my want to laugh. What no one knows is that to every search there is always a back door. I looked up to see Ellie three inches from my face. “Can I get some breathing room?” I demanded making her back off quickly. Shaking my head I got my fingers to work.
Ellie was sitting on my bed as I typed and clicked. In less than fifteen minutes, I found an article from India about Alicia.
“Okay, Alicia lives in a town called Bihar, she was one of the few women in her school that represented her country in the International Academic Team, and she doesn’t have a criminal record, this is her first year in America, and her father is the Ambassador,” I quickly said, “Wait, what?” I turned back to the computer as I looked through what I read. “Holy shit, this is no game.” I said out loud as Ellie came behind me. “Okay, so Daddy-dearest works closely with the big man, nice.” I started to yawn. “Can I go to bed now?”
Instead Ellie grabbed my ponytail and began to force me to walk back with her.
“No time,” She quickly said, “we need to head over there, now.”
“Um, Ellie, I hate to burst your bubble but I don’t think anyone’s going to answer their door at one-thirty in the morning.” I said as she let go of me and I fell on the floor.
She stopped and looked into space as if thinking about it, “Yeah, you’re probably right.” Sighing she shrugged, “I guess we can ruin her life later today, night.” And she made her way downstairs and out the door.
“That’s it?” I said out loud as I laid there looking around wondering where this was going. “I wasted precious moments sleeping in order to looking online for someone who doesn’t even pay attention to me? Last time I ever do afterhours favor.” I sat down on the floor sighing when my mother came out.
“Mariah,” She demanded, “What are you doing?”
“What does it look like I’m doing,” I looked around, “I’m sitting on the floor in the middle of the hallway. That’s what I’m doing.”
She looked at me as if trying to determine my level of sanity. “Where did I go wrong?”
“When you had two bottles of wine and gas station condoms.”

I walked into Principal Dorfs – or Dork as we call him – office. He was obviously expecting me since he put down his glasses and looked at me with his already prepared scowled face.
“Mariah.” He said.
“Mimi.” I corrected.
“Mariah is your Christian name,” He declared and I rolled my eyes. “What did you do this time?”
“Well I got kicked out of Miss. Simms class room because I didn’t do the test.”
“Why didn’t you do the test?”
“I didn’t know the answers.”
A sigh. “What else?”
“I hammered my locker open.”
“Why?”
“I forgot my combination.” I swear he was asking for answers that were right there; how dump.
He looked at me as if not sure what to do with me. Strange, my mother looks at me like that often. “Two weeks detention.” He declared.
“I’m use to it.” I shrugged my shoulders thinking of it. Detention every week, something that happens daily; though I’m still trying to finish off my month’s detention.
“You can leave now.”
“Already gone.”
I walked into the halls and made my way to class. School was nothing but a structure built because parents honestly had no other place to put their kids. Ah, how sad. Why do the rest of us gotta suffer?
.x.x.x.
Lunchtime; my favorite subject. Now we have open-lunch meaning we could go off-campus, which is why so many restaurants took place around the school. I sat down at the Mexican restaurant with my nachos waiting for Jenny and Ellie.
“I can’t believe Alicia,” Ellie said sitting down next to me.
“I can’t believe Justin,” Jenny said sitting down on the other side of me.
“I can’t believe there’s no cheese on my nachos.” I said poking around trying to look for the cheese. Everyone knew that cheese on nachos were the best part; what a rip off.
Ellie began talking again, “Is it too much for that girl to listen to me when I’m being honest?”
“Is it too much for Justin to listen to me?” Jenny said obviously beginning to cry.
“Is it too much to ask for some cheese?” I said. I wasn’t even paying attention to those two. They’ve got issues of their own. But both of them were looking at me. “What? Nachos with no cheese is considered a crime.” I defended. But that didn’t seem to keep them happy. “Okay, this is what you people should do. Jenny find a new guy; Justin’s with someone new that means you can find someone new yourself. And Ellie, this is the most important thing you need to do. I mean, it is a life or death situation; you need to get over it!” I stood up taking my nachos, “now if you’ll excuse me, I am going to find cheese to put on my nachos.” I began to walk away happy. Sometimes it ain’t easy having two best friends who both cry about the exact same thing.
.x.x.x.
I walked out of the restaurant yawning. I could use a drink. Really, when I’m drunk I’m at my worst, but didn’t care, because if I was drunk then that means that I didn’t have to pay attention to all the bullshit that’s going on, because I really hated bullshit.
