To Never Forget

By SnowSkittles

Nobody’s perfect! Igotta work it!!” You might think I’m weird for singing a Hannah Montana song at the age of 16, but it’s completely reasonable! Anyone can love it! “Again and again till I get it right!!” I was singing at the top of my voice as the Fat Lady in the 3rd Harry Potter movie would say. Okay, not really. It was more like screaming. “Daniella Hampton Carson shut the hell up!” My 19 year old brother yelled as he banged on the door. “Never in a million years Brain!!” I yelled then continued to sing. “Danii darling, could you please tune it down a little bit before the neighbors start to complain.” My mother said when the poked her head in my door way.“Yes Mama” I said as I walked over to my iPod dock and turned it down. I decided to calm down so I changed the song to ‘Angels on the Moon’ by Thriving Ivory. I opened the French doors that led to the balcony. I stood there gazing at the peaceful elite neighborhood that was before me. I quickly looked at my clock on my desk. 5:45 my friends would be here any second for our annual movie night and I still had to get ready. I walked into my closet and grabbed a pair of dark wash skinny jeans, a black and orange pop t-shirt and a pair of lime green pumps. I quickly went into my bathroom and applied lime green eyeliner and straightened my hair.

I heard the doorbell ring. I looked in the mirror and fluffed my hair, and grabbed my cell phone and shoved it into my pocket. I took my time walking down the hallway looking at the pictures that held a lot of happy memories. I reached the top of the stairs then slowly started to walk down because the shoes I had on were no good if you ran down them. When I could see the foyer were my mother was standing I noticed that it wasn’t my friends who were standing there but and guy who looked around my age and who I presumed was his father.

“Darling, you remember Matthew and his father, Mr. Harrison right?” I check my mind to see if I remember a Matthew Harrison. I looked at him and our eyes locked. All the sudden I knew who he was. Thanks to his sea foam green eyes. “Mattie” I said running and hugging my childhood friend that moved when we were 10. “Hi Daniella. Oh, by the way I go by Matt now” I laughed. “People call me Danii now” He nodded. The doorbell rang again. This time I was sure it was my friends. I opened the door and my best friends Aria and Kelsey came in. I quickly told them about Mattie, I mean Matt. They looked over at him. They both agreed he was hot. I hadn’t had a really good chance to look at him. I turned around. He was wearing a black Abercrombie t-shirt, jeans, and flip-flops. He had a leather band around his wrist and his black hair complemented his eyes.

“Let’s invite him to go with us to the movies” Aria suggested. I nodded and walked over to where he was. “Uh, we were wondering if you would like to go see the new Batman movie with us. Would you like to go?” I gave him a bright smile. “Sure” he answered. He told his father that he was going out with us and followed us outside. “Let’s take my” I suggested. We all got in my cream colored Range Rover. Matt sat beside me. I put my Flyleaf CD in. He was humming along. I started to sing. The song was ‘Fully Alive’ it was one of my favorite songs. “What?” I asked worriedly because he was staring at me. “Nothing it’s just your voice wasn’t that beautiful when we were younger.” I smiled. But I blushed when I heard the

girls in the back seat go ‘Aww’. Matt laughed. “So have you moved back?” I asked him. “Yup. My dad got transferred back. We’re also moving across the street from you.” A scream of delight escaped my mouth without meaning. Everyone laughed as I blushed a deep scarlet! We pulled into the movie theaters parking lot. It was full but it was a good weekend because so many movies were out. I finally found a parking spot. We quickly bought our tickets then our snacks. We took our time talking about what a hit the movie was supposed to be and how much I was going to bring to the box office. We found our seats and watched the previews. Then the movie started and no one talked throughout the movie. Although a few times the joker creeped me out and I buried my head into Matt’s shoulder. He chuckled and I blushed.

When the movie was over we walked back to my car. I yawned because I was very tired, when I opened my car. “Here let me drive.” Matt offered. I nodded and tiredly walked over to the passenger side. “Thanks for coming Matt…” I said quietly before I drifted off to sleep. Next thing I Know I hear a male voice asking ‘if she does this often.’ And a female voice saying that it happens occasionally. My eyes fluttered opened and I came face to face with a pair of sea foam green eyes. Matt was carrying me bridal style into my room because I must have fallen asleep in the car. “Hey sleep head.” He told me. I smiled as he placed me on my bed. “Thanks” I told him He nodded. “Uh, do you wanna little help unpacking tomorrow, and then maybe afterwards we could come to my house and swim?” I asked without thinking. “Sure!” he replied. He told me bye and that to come over anytime as long as it was past ten. When he closed my door I quickly stood up and danced. It was a delight to have my best friend back. After he moved we never kept in-touch cause’ well he never usually checked his e-mail, and he wasn’t much of a writer. So I thought it wasn’t worth my time being stupid at the time. But having him back will make this summer and senior year so much less boring!
