Perk

I’m a little bit crazy
Nothing you can do about that
Lately everything’s been hazy
Somebody must have turned up the thermostat!

I feel like the past will wilt
Every time I try to handle
My memories by the hilt
While the wind blows out the candle…

Am I still the person I know?
This question doesn’t go away
Even as I run, ever on the go
Shadows following me night and day.

The things I’ve done are wrong
So what? I had a reason
I’ve killed everyone’s song
Now nobody can accuse me of treason!

It’s just my little perk
Okay, maybe it’s an affliction
My line of work
Never knew the word Compassion.

Perk or not, the curtain has fallen...
