A/N: The result of mixing me, chocolate and old quotes...
The Crow
The crow perches on a headstone,
Eyeing wearily all those who pass,
Clad in black suits and dresses…
They had known it couldn’t last.
Life cannot go on forever,
Immortality is but a dream;
Of wretched and broken minds,
Denying what is to be.
The wind begins to sing,
Whispering softly in the deadened grass,
As the mourners take their stand,
And begin slowly their solemn chant.
Too young to go,
Too young to die…
May you find your peace,
After the pain endured in your life.
And then they leave.
Dark clouds hanging over their heads,
Leaving only the crow bearing witness,
To the sorry scene; their tribute for the dead.
White lilies lie on the dark marble,
Marking where the body now rests.
In an eternal slumber…
Oh, why can’t they just rejoice?
All pain is over!
All suffering gone!
I shall sleep forever,
And they shall move on.
But alas, it is just a dream;
For their minds are too heavy,
And burdened with their guilt,
For being the ones chosen to carry on with life,
And leaving me here, with the flowers as they wilt.
If only they knew,
If only I’d had the chance to tell them,
What a wise person had once said;
‘Tis the living you should pity, and not the dead’.
