Years later.

--

“And that was it.” I said to the room full of girls who were hanging on every single word I was saying, “He obviously tried to talk to me on several different occasions but it just wasn’t right. My and Seth’s dance floor escape story had somehow slipped out amongst the students that Monday, and I knew there wasn’t anyway he hadn’t heard about it. Which is why I couldn’t, didn’t talk to him about it. If that had swayed him, relationship hadn’t been worth it in the first place.”

One of my favorite bridesmaids in the room sighed telling me how much of an idiot I was for not listening. I nodded in agreement and nervously played with some of the detail of my white dress.

“I know that. It’s my only regret.”

“Such a sad story for a wedding day!” Joseph, the hair stylist, said from behind his curling iron, his hand was waving it around like a wand as he talked, “So sad, so sad.”

“What’s going to be sad is what I do to you if you ruin her hair!” I said defensively from my seat.

“Oh honey child, Joseph never messes up hair unless it’s in…”

Thankfully a knock came from door.

“Can I come in?” A familiar voice said from behind the door, but all the girls squealed that it was bad luck. The ecstatic brown eyes peered from the door and seeing everyone was dressed came in anywise.

The man made a direct bee line for me.

“Julie.” He said kissing my cheek softly and a little to meaningfully.

“Dean.” I said smiling, “Dean, these are the bridesmaids. Bridesmaids say hello to Dean, from the story.”

Every single eye in the room perked up. Lots of ‘nooo ways…’ were emitted from their shocked mouths. Most of the girls knew Dean, but through his last name.

A second knock came from the door and another familiar voice came from behind the door, this time my heart raced as the figured stepped into the large dressing room.

I immediately left Dean’s side and went into the arms of the man at the door. I could feel his eyes glancing after me with complete love, even after all these years.

“You look extravagant in white.” The man at the door said kissing me passionately, our affection causing ‘oohs’ and ‘ahhss’ from all the girls.

“Gross mom and dad,” the beautiful girl in the chair said as she stood up revealing a poofy white princess wedding dress that even though was old, was elegant.

It had been my wedding dress, but you could tell that it was perfectly made for her…as if it had been waiting for her all along.

“She looks like you on our wedding day.” My husband whispered into my ear. I tried to hide my tears as I admired our beautiful daughter. In so many ways did she look like a spitting image of me.

Yet, she had his eyes…

“Ladies, I’m not sure if you have all been properly introduced yet to Whinnie’s dad. Ladies, Mr. Luke Scott.”

Collective gasps were heard around the room.

“Ooo…honey child spill now.”

I grinned wide; this was my favorite part of the story.

“Well after high school some of us went off to distant colleges like Ann and John, while the rest of us packed up and headed to state. I was about two months into college, when I was sitting in the park having a nice coffee waiting on Cameron. Well, it was nice until a football went spiraling into the back of my head. Obviously level headed like I was, I spun around to tell the jerk off when I laid my eyes on his panicked blue eyes.”

I smiled up into his un-aged eyes and smiled, they hadn’t lost their sparkle even through all these years. In fact they looked more brilliant.

Luke picked up on where I left off.

“Immediately she tried to run but I practically tackled her and told her if she didn’t have coffee with me I’d stalk her for life.”

“It was just coffee.” I said adding my two cents.

“In which I told her my part of the story which she wasn’t to interested in hearing back in high school.”

--

(flashback: Back inside the dance Dean has Luke pulled off to the side)

Oh man, I think you have it wrong…that Seth kid was practically dragging her back to a private room.”

That’s not what I saw, she looked pretty content.”

Look man, I don’t know what was going on before. But all I know is that when I was going to the keg that Seth kid was putting all his strength into dragging her off the floor. She’s got bruises all over her hips, it’s sickening. If I hadn’t convinced him to let go, he might have broken some bones or worse…”

Why are you telling me this?”

I don’t know. I guess it’s only fair you knew the truth because I’m sure you’ve listened to Julia and heard her side of the story, and I know her well... She’d leave that part out. You have listened to her right?”

Luke just stared blankly at Dean.

Wow you’re an idiot. She deserves so much better than you.” and for once Luke agreed.

(end flashback)

--

“But after Dean told me Julia’s side of the story that’s when all my stupidity hit me, and so left the dance to track her down. I had searched for three hours, everywhere I could. I even sat out in front of her house contemplating wither or not to go in.”

We both wished he had, it would have given us so much more time together...

I smiled at him and continued.

“After the coffee, which didn’t end up going so well…”

“She dumped hers into my lap.” Luke added for emphasis.

“We parted ways, but after that neither one of us could get the other out of their minds. It wasn’t until I was the bookstore that the real part of the fairytale began.I was searching for one of the books for my philosophy class when James Taylor came over the speakers. It was Luke’s song to me, Something in the Way She Moves. Of course I thought of Luke and was surprised to hear a familiar voice humming not to far away…In the chair near the history section he was just sitting, humming our song.”

Luke looked away from me and at the girls who were staring at us all gaga-eyed. “I didn’t hear her or anything but I could just feel her there and when I looked up, I was right.”

“We just decided then and there it was fate. High school was high school, and we’d start fresh.”

“And we re-fell back in love.”

“Lucy, of course you parents got married before we ever did.” I said to my favorite bridesmaid who had platinum blond hair with bangs, just like her mother. “Bear, Matt and Cameron married our junior year right?”

“Yea I think so.” Luke said as his thumb gently stroked my back.

“So when did you guys get married?”

“Twenty-four years ago today.” We said in unison, I couldn’t help but blush.

“Gosh, Whinnie, that’s so romantic you’re getting married on your parents anniversary.”

The blond smiled so bright it lit up the entire room, yet how could it not?

She had her father’s smile. “I hope it brings us luck.”

“It will.” Luke said walking across the room and embracing his only daughter. Whinnie was the first one of our three kids to get married but also the youngest. She was Luke’s world and I could tell by the sadness in his eyes he didn’t want to give her away.

But what parent would.

“Julia, I came to tell you ladies everyone is ready when you all are.” Dean said from the corner.

“Well alright ladies you heard the man!” Whinnie said smiling, “I’m ready to get married! Let’s go!”

Laughing and smiling as any normal person does on a wedding day the girls all filed out of the room leaving Lucy, Luke, and I standing around Whinnifer.

“Whinnie, I’m so happy for you and Sky. Good luck!” Lucy said as she hugged our daughter tightly and left the room stopping at the door before she left, “hey don’t forget your something blue.”

“Oh right! Thanks Lu you’re the best Maid of honor, ever.”

“Yeah, yeah so I’ve heard.” She smiled and left.

Whinnie turned around, peeled off the pearl necklace my mother had shoved on her earlier, and replaced it with a heart necklace that looked familiar.

“Honey where did you get that?” I gasped.

“Sky gave it to me on our first date. It’s made from the pastel I borrowed from him in art class.” Whinnie said her beautiful azure eyes smiling at me.

The air was thick due to the fact that Luke and I both knew where Sky had probably gotten the idea from, but it’s like they say apples don’t fall far from the tree.

“Are you ready honey?” I said as glanced at the beautiful woman before me.

“More than I’ll ever be.”

--

I tried to hide my tears as I walked down the isle and turned into my pew, Cameron squeezed my assuring it would all be okay.

While the rest of the procession was taking place I studied my future son-in-law and couldn’t help but realize how much he looked like his father.

He was about 6’4” with the same windswept blonde bangs and dreamy chocolate eyes. He looked absolutely nothing like his mother, which had always made me wonder if Dean had just cloned himself.

A pang of pity stung my heart as I thought about Mrs. Thomas. She was a lovely lady with eyes a dull shade of green and short blond hair, and although she seemed a little naive sometimes she knew to Dean she was second string.

(Flashback to Julia’s wedding day)

“Are you sure about this?” Dean, my best friend, whispered with tears in his eyes.

I sighed and took his hands in mine, “I’m sure. I can’t wait to spend the rest of my days with Luke.” I winced as I noticed the pain my words had inflicted on Dean. “Please Dean, just go and be happy. You deserve someone so much more than me.”

College Dean took my hands and placed them over his beating heart, “Only you always and forever…” With those last words he kissed me on the cheek and retreated out the church doors not to be seen in my life again until Whinnifer bumped into Sky at college.

(end flashback)

Sky smiled at me in the front row and I couldn’t help but smile back. He was such a charming level-headed kid. Even though fresh out of college and didn’t have much money to his name, I knew he could provide everything Whinnie would ever need.

I could see it in the love in his eyes.

It was strange having Dean back in my life again after all of these years, but honestly I wouldn’t have Whinnifer marry anyone else's son.

Well maybe Cameron and Matt's, but that was impossible seeing that they only had Lucy due to Cam hating blowing up like a whale during her pregnancy.

But it was okay though since the eldest twin, Luke also known as Little Bear, was going to ask for Lucy's hand quietly at the wedding reception. Most children would have been upset that the other was stealing their thunder, but Whinnie had suggest it.

That's just the kind of person she was, and it made me proud.

The organ starting awoke me back to planet earth, and as Whinnifer processed down the isle with Luke at her side I couldn’t help but cry. I loved Whinnifer more than I love my life itself, she was the symbol of mine and Luke’s complete unity and it showed in every way.

Whinnie had my temper and his grace.

She physically had his eyes and smile while she had my body shape and height.

She was adventurous like Luke and was witty with words like I was.

All in all I loved Whinnifer completely, not to say that I loved her more than her twin brothers who were Luke completely, but there is a special love between a mother and a daughter that is unexplainable.

I thought about the time I watched Luke teach her how to ride her first bike, the time she ran in the kitchen replaying Zach Patterson asking her to the sweet heart dance, all of the times I watched her play basketball like her mother, the times I had peeked into her bedroom at night to watch her sleep, but most of all the memory that stuck out the most was the first time I held her in my arms with Luke and the boys at my side.

It was the first time I had ever felt complete.

I watched still teary eyed as Luke handed her away.

As I watched the ceremony progress I couldn’t help but feel like I was watching what my marriage to Dean would have looked like in an alternative universe. Our children just resembled each of us so much.

Luke held me close as Sky and Whinnie exchanged their vows, and as he held me close I couldn’t help but remember…

And now Julia and Luke would like to present the vows they have written…”

Nervously Luke took my hands in his and pulled me close, I could feel both of our hearts beating out of chests.

If you’ll have me, Julia., I’m yours.” And in that moment looking into Luke’s eyes I felt like I had forever in my grasps as long as he was at my side. The revenge had produced something more beautiful than I could have dreamed, although ugly was woven in between.

I smiled back my tears of joy as I whispered…

I choose you.”

An: Smiles largely.

Okay so forgive me guys. i lied to you all, I'M THE BIGGEST SUCKER for fairytale endings. i'm so sorry i lied, but i had to for the sake of this being a complete suprise.

Did any of you guys call it?

um...this story was written to the musical stylings' of Kelly Clarkson, The goo goo dolls, Taylor swifts love song, Aly and Aj, Matt Nathenson, Lifehouse, The Veronicas, Miley Cyrus (sadly but only off breakout album), switchfoot, Metro station, paramore, JAMES TAYLOR, AAR, Ashlee Simpson, and many many others.

but back to buisness.

Well now more Suprises. (cause i'm just full of them)

Well, i have TWO new intros into stories.

Yes that's not uno or one. BUT DOS as in TWO.

My first, Dunking Funk will be the main story i focus on while i'll give a shot at shifter.

I know most of you are screaming TWILIGHT in your head, but this isn't like twilight at all. or at least if i plan/write it like it is in my head, it wont be.

Summaries for the two are:

Dunking Funk: Katie didn't want to go to the party, in fact she didn't want the throw over that came with it, and she most CERTAINLY didn't ask for the video of her ranting about the schools Greek god all star jock and world renounced and love pop star to hit the internet. and after the video is watched world wide the two come after her, but Katie's pleading 'Dunking Funk.'

Shifter: Chandler is enjoying her life as she finally gets the guy she's secretly admired since birth to talk to her, but as she makes friends with the Hazel eyed Gavin and the new kid Hunter she realizes that her life's about to get naturally super.

Both are going to be written in the similar styles as Get Even

Okay and as for the review replies i promised here i just decided because of time issues that there was no human way i could have you guys read, review, and then have time for me to write back before 8:15 so i'm doing personal PM's replies or w/e. if you dont want one just pop in and say so if not expect one :)

THANK YOU A MILLION TIMES! I LOVE YOU ALL PASSIONATELY!

but our Get Even story unfortuately ends here.

oh please don't be sad. "he died." -think of all the good times.-
