Hide and Seek

I wouldn’t go out with her, but I’d go out with someone like her. His words echoed in her mind as she was running, to a place as far from him as possible.

Why did you have to say it while I was standing right next to you? It was as if she was being pushed, as far from him as possible.

When I lost her it was like I had lost the world. But now that I think about it, to me she is the world. The time he took to realise his new feelings was almost as long as the time she took to throw hers away … Almost.

Should I turn back now? I am his friend first and foremost, after all. But she dreaded facing him. It was as if she was admitting defeat. She fell first. She was almost the sore loser in this game called Hide and Seek, but also known as Love … Almost.

How far are you willing to run? How well are you willing to conceal your presence in my life? How far do I have to travel to find you and to take you back? He didn’t know everything, though at least he was willing to try, to get as close to her as possible.

Why would you bother to try and find me? It’s not like I’m anything special. There are plenty of other girls who could take my place. It’s too late for that though, because he was already holding tightly onto her hand. He wanted to hold her, as close to him as possible.

Then he whispered something into her ear.

I’ve tried to search but now I know … There is no-one in this world who is just like you.

The truth was that she wanted to hold him too, as close to her as possible.
