Preface
Leah Allen walked down a street in Cleveland, the full moon shone brightly above her. She was walking fast, due to the sudden rise in strange deaths.
Crack, something snapped behind her. Leah breathed sharply inward and turned her head to look, her golden brown hair flipping behind her. Nothing was there. She stuck her hands in her pockets and sped up. She could still faintly hear footsteps that were not her own behind her. She kept walking but the footsteps stopped and the only noise came from her boots.
Silently, an almost invisible black shadow ran across the path. Leah started to run but high heeled boots were not helping her go any faster. Then the showdown figure stopped in front of her to reveal a man. A man beyond description, with black hair and gold tinted eyes, he made Leah stop and take a breath.
He only said one word,
“Run.”
Within one second of her moving another figure tackled him and they both fell to the ground. Leah tried to run but her eyes remained glued to the scene in front of her. Punch, dodge, kick, block. Then one knee to the stomach sent the attacker flying into a tree.
Crack, then a groan and the tree snapped in half. The attacker jumped and lunged at the man, like a cat pouncing onto its prey. When they slammed together, because the man had no time to dodge, the sheer force of the attackers leap , slammed them both into a light pole. When they lunged off the pole, the metal was curved to fit the shape of their bodies
Then Leah’s attacker threw the man across the path. His heart was pierced by a branch that stuck out from the tree. He then turned to dust leaving nothing behind but a ring that clattered to the ground.
Leah gasped in shock. She slowly took two steps backward almost falling over. Then she turned around and took off running. Almost instantly after she started running, her attacker passed her by.
When he stopped in front of her, she thought she saw an angel. Now she knew better, he was anything but. He stood with his hands in his pockets and his blonde hair tousled on his head. He held himself like some one who thought themselves attractive.
“Hello Leah.” He said his voice smooth and velvety.
“How H-how do you know my name?” Leah asked trembling.
He didn’t answer her; he just smirked and took 3 steps forward. His hand gently grabbed a piece of Leah’s hair and smelled it.
“Just like I remember it.” Then his face changed. His blue gold eyes turned yellow and his front teeth lengthened.
Leah screamed. But he put his finger to her lips and whispered in her ear,
“Scream all you want, no one will hear you.”
She gulped and squirmed but his grip was like steel. He leaned his face into her neck and breathed deeply. Then his fangs pierced her neck; he drank.
Leah’s eyes rolled into her head and her body went limp. The man dropped her body and licked his lips. Then he stuck his hands into his pockets and walked into the darkness of the forests.
