Here's something pretty different from what I usually write. Call it an experiment. Please let me know if you like.
prologue
catch me as i fall
say it's here and it's all over now
Softly, gently, the night air shifted, blowing back her long, gray scarf. It tumbled through her dark hair, moving through it like a wave. Pulling at her loose clothing, it seemed to try its best to move her.
But she did not move.
She stood motionless, head tilted back, ignoring the locks of hair that the wind blew in her face. Her eyes were fixated on the huge half-moon that hung over the city. If her face-hadn't been half covered by the gray scarf, her expression could be seen as . . .sorrowful.
speaking to the atmosphere
no one's here and i fall into myself
It was a long time since she had moved; her small form had become a stone statue. Maybe the reason was her gaze – it was peering at something far away and sad. Something that had taken place some time ago.
Whatever this something was, it was something that plagued her. Plagued her thoughts, invaded her mind, overwhelmed her heart – something that had trapped her in its icy depths.
this truth drives me
into madness
In an abrupt movement, she looked down from the moon, and her eyes focused on the bright lights of the city surrounding her. The breeze picked up, pushing and tugging her with more vehemence. It made her shiver, but yet, she did not move.
i know i can stop the pain
if i will it all away
She drew in a breath, filling her lungs with the cool air. Then she released it slowly, a soft hiss. For a moment she stood, looking down at the dark streets beneath her. Seeing the dark forms moving around. Hearing the occasional muffled scream. Smelling the faint twinge of blood.
Then she moved. Quietly, smoothly, she leapt from her perch, and sailed down into the dark depths that lay below. In a moment, nothing was there, nothing showing any signs that she had been there – nothing but a whisper.
