Forever it seemed, I had lived solitary in the pencil case, sharpener by side. Then the pens invaded.

They threatened me with ink, and I threatened them back with scissors. They had me pinned down with a glue stick.

A rubber grenade exploded and had us jumping to either side of the case. It was the highlighters! An untouched crayon nearby giggled at their colourings. They told the newbies to chill out, and me to watch my back.

I thanked them, and the highlighters returned to their fortress behind the calculator.
