--

Buildings have crumbled to dust

Metal poles have now rust

The innocent have not last

A thousand years have now passed.

Have things changed for the better?

Is it still polluted like the weather?

As we look across the vast

A thousand years have now passed.

The sun must set at the end of each day,

And the curtain must fall at the end of each play.

Each day goes by so very fast

That a thousand years have now passed.

A/N: The first two lines of the last stanza were not written by me.
