her winter skin slides
beneath his trembling fingers—
float stumble caress hesitate
mind mumbles amid more snowy confusion,
miles from sense and reason
speeding to sensibility and responsiveness.
can he live like this forever?
can she live like this any longer?
his house makes him ill,
but so is hers.
he is escaping,
while she is trapped;
both are caught in the snare.
brown eyes grey eyes
smoothing over trouble
creating more problems along the way
each just surviving
unloved and overloved,
longing for summer.
