Chapter 3

When just Kaylee gathered his power into his new weapon, something struck the large Adamantoise and made it dropped Latina to the ground. The spiky black haired guy quickly approached his sister and tried to move her away. The tortoise tried to attack the twin again, but all of sudden, it movement was stopped. At the next second, its body was cut in half.

A black haired lady was landing in front of them and grinned widely. “Yo! You kids sure are troublesome, just like your Mommy and Daddy!” she said cheerfully, “Oh, are you hurt? Here, let me heal you.”

“Auntie Jewel!” Kaylee sighed relieved, “Thanks God you help us in time!”

A black eyebrow was lifted. “Hey! Don’t call me Auntie! I’m not that old, geez!” but her protest only replied with laughs by the twin.

Some men then later showed up around them. “Guys, take care of the monster. Ransack its body, maybe it bring something precious and if not, well; we always appreciate ransom meats, right?” Jewel giggled as she kept casting Cura to Latina. Those guys nodded and jumped to the newly dead Adamantoise. “Phew, it is such a pain to have this kind of monster roaming around freely.”

This lady is Jewel Seraphim, one who in charge at Judaica, the leader and founder of Crystal Cross Hunter Guild, and also our parent’s old friend just like Uncle Rudner. She insisted to not be referred as ‘auntie’ by us, since she practically still in her mid thirty. But, well…Dad told us to call her as ‘auntie’ and we must oblige, right?

“Now, now, Jewel. You really are an auntie, with all wrinkles from the moping around and…thirty is old, you know!” said sepia haired man who came from the town’s way.

The comment was followed with a chuckle from his brunette companion. “Ow, Dan, don’t be very truthful. Jewel might turn a hell for you,” that girl poke the named Dan at his arm.

“Dan, Lily, shut up or I must punish you!” threatened the black haired leader.

“Yeah, godparents. You two are adults now, so act your age, will you?” added the blonde girl. Kaylee could only laugh.

Those two are Dan Prueitt and Lily Evenos, our godparents. Dan named me and Lily named Latina. They are worked under our Cooger Worker Agent and currently had their job at Judaica. Even they are our godparents; both Dad and Mom treated them like the two are their own child, just like me and Latina. So that’s why we also just call them with their names.

“By the way, what are you kids doing here? Are Louise and Freya with you?” asked Lily concerned.

“No, actually we’re--”

“Ah, details, details!” Jewel interrupted when Latina wanted to explain, “Don’t do it here, dear. How about talking in my mansion? It’s more comfortable there, and there’s always some snacks to enjoy while we’re talking! Overall, it’s better than talking here, eh?”

“Yeah, we could use that,” Kaylee agreed.

“Then let’s go!” the black haired lady got up and turned to her boys, “Guys, if you finished, bring the ransom meats to the city! It’ll sell for good or at least we could sell it to other cities!”

“Aye, aye, ma’am!” replied one of the hunters.

The five made their way to the city. The twin was amazed to see the large town. The houses were built on mounds or hills; it formed like a town that went up to the mountain at the back of the town. Kaylee noticed there was a lot children playing around and the townspeople selling food in stalls, unlike in Erebus City where they always had supermarket in each sector and the children loved to play in game centre. It felt more peace, and somewhat very village.

Jewel led the youths to the tallest building in the city. The townspeople greeted the lady respectfully, which she replied with huge grins. There were lot people inside the mansion, and judging from the uniform they wore, they are Crystal Cross Hunters as well. They finally arrived at the top most floor of the building. The five sat on the floor, since the lounge didn’t provide them with sofas or something like that.

“Welcome to my humble Headquarter,” Jewel smirked mischievously, “Don’t expect any sofas or technologies like Erebus here, kids. We’re free of polluted air.”

“Oh yes, I heard of that. Judaica is one of the three cities that weren’t polluted both in air, water and earth because there are not so much technologies here,” Latina remembered the information she heard from the TV. “But I never expected it’ll be this…fresh.”

“True, we could use some rest here,” added Kaylee. “Maybe Dad will allow us to have a vacation here someday.”

“Huh? What are you talking about? You’ve been here five times!” Dan raised an eyebrow.

“Dan, Louise and Freya brought them here when they were still babies. Of course they didn’t know about that,” reminded Lily.

“Oh yeah. Hell, what’s on Louise’s mind actually? He didn’t allow you guys to visit me again,” grunted the black haired lady.

Kaylee and Latina only shrugged. The blonde girl decided it’s time to explain their reason for being in that place and their objection to return to Erebus quickly. The elders nodded, understand.

“Well, of course we could give you a ride with out airships, but!” Jewel sighed, “All four airships we had were currently out. Some of my boys borrowed them to do their mission to hunt the treasures. They will back at least three days again.”

“So, we just need to stay here until then and killing some times,” the black haired twin smirked. He turned to the godparents before continued, “You two were here to do missions, right? We could get back home together. I’ll help you to finish your work, well, that are if you still not finish it.”

“Ah, we always appreciate help,” the brunette girl smiled. “But I guess Louise and Freya will turn a hell for us if they knew their babies get into dangers…”

“We’re not babies!” declined the twin rather ruefully.

“C’mon, we’ve training to fight the monsters in the city already. And I even beat someone that Alviss couldn’t defeat! I’m sure we can help you…” pleaded Kaylee.

“Like we can stop you anyway,” Dan sighed and got up. “Well, let’s go then. We’ll show you the way.”

The five were heading to the mountain behind Judaica. It was named Mt. Jade, as the rock colored like a jade stone. The monsters around here were quite powerful. Dan, Lily and Jewel defeated them at ease, but the twin had a hard time finishing one foe even they had combined their attack.

However, everything will eventually been paid off. After passed battles to battles, both Kaylee and Latina learnt a way to defeat those menacing monsters easier. They became more agile and strong as well. The two even learned new abilities; Kaylee get used with his new blade and master new trick called Seal Cross. When he used it, his blade will engulfed in white aura and he will slash the enemy with cross style, made the enemy unable to move very fast. Latina mastered her mother’s next skill, Tornado Kick. She would turn around and kicked the enemies around her, deals damage to enemy adjacent.

On their way to the peak, Jewel explained the situation. “We’ll heading to the cave at the peak of the mountain,” she said, “Mt. Jade was very famous to be the home of its very native monsters. Time to time, our ancestors managed to tame those monsters and we as their predecessors learned how to deal with them too. However, suddenly out of nowhere a golem monster appeared and made those tamed monsters frightened.”

“In a nutshell, Jewel afraid that the golem persuaded the monsters to turn to their wild life again,” Dan cut in impatiently.

“Jewel requested our agent to help her get rid of that golem. She originally asked Louise to come and exterminate it. However, your Dad had lot, lot, lots other things to do, so we came to replace him,” added Lily.

“And it seems a right decision to ask him instead of you two,” the black haired woman smirked naughtily. “You can’t defeat it, even after this whole week spent to seek for its weak spot.”

“No worries, then! We’ll help you beat the golem!” Kaylee raised his thumb, pointing as a nice guy.

“What a confident…this is why Mom asked me to keep watch on you…” Latina sighed, and then followed by her older brother’s pout and the three elders’ laughs. That blonde girl then noticed something big behind the path. “Is that is?” she pointed at the thing.

Jewel looked at the way and nodded. “Yep. The golem. I sent our most skillful tamers already, but they couldn’t tame it. Then I ordered my men to kill it down, and yet they failed again. Even when I, Dan and Lily fought it, it still could kick our butt for good,” that leader woman rolled her black narrow eyes to the young twins. “Ready?”

Kaylee smirked and unsheathed his blade, swung it to the empty air. Latina nodded and tightened her leather gloves. The two looked at each other, smiling widely and then stared at the oldest woman among them, full with determination. “Whenever you are,” they said firmly.

“Then here goes nothing.”

Jewel disappeared. Dan and Kaylee ran ahead, went to their position. Latina also rushed ahead, while Lily waiting from behind, searching for an opening to land big damages and ready if any of them need an immediate recovery. Jewel then appeared again in front of the golem. That large monster stood up in slow motion, thus giving the woman a chance to attack.

Bubbler Tremor!” she shouted aloud. Jewel stuck the ground with her respective weapon, a large-sized shuriken. A shock wave appeared and blasted the golem. Still not finished just yet, the ground started to buckle, and then the land under the golem’s feet exploded, caused the golem to shriek in pain.

The attack chained with the other. Dan already jumped up high. His broad sword emanated purple aura. “Heaven Ripple!” the brunette shouted. He crossed the golem and landing at the ground near where Jewel is. At the next second, the golem shrieked in pain again. Dan had sliced the golem’s skin, though it was almost futile.

Again, the attack was chained. Latina came forth, landing her combo attacks. She felt her fists hurt, but those attacks managed to crumble the golem’s left leg. The young girl retreated to Lily’s place, where that brunette lady quickly cast a Cure to heal her fists.

“Last chain!” Kaylee cried. He was ready to use his most powerful skill. The same technique which was he utilized to beat Faustus. He wasn’t thinking a name just yet. Whatever the name is, it would be deadly and he sure it would finish off the golem as well.

However, it seems like all the pain made the golem act faster. It swung his long and large arm, tried to sweep away those five. Jewel and Dan were jumped to higher place so the attack was missed. Latina and Lily were out of the reach. And the attack got Kaylee, hit him right at his stomach. The boy was thrown aback to a large stone wall nearby. He was coughing bloods. That one attack had injured him badly.

“Kaylee!” Latina screamed in panic. She would cast her healing magic to her twin brother, unfortunately she still not able to cast magic from that far. “Kaylee! Hang in there!”

“No, Latina,” Lily stopped the girl from doing such a reckless attack. The blonde girl gritted her teeth, tried to suppress her panic and anxiety. The brunette one smiled to see her good self-control. Lily swung her metal rod around. Wind came to the very peak, surrounded the five fighters and healed their wounds and stamina too. Latina recognized the skill as one of Lily’s healing skill, Healing Wind. At least Kaylee’s wound had been healed.

However, the things still not very good just yet. The golem started to move, searched it attacker anywhere. The he noticed that the spiky boy still hung on the stone wall, unconscious. Because he was the shortest in reach, the golem headed to his way. Latina gasped. He tried to land some more attacks to the golem’s leg, though it was futile.

Kaylee slowly regained his conscious. He opened his navy eyes and realized the golem tried to attack him again. His reaction became slower, with the fact that his still not fully recovered. He wouldn’t make it in time to avoid the attack. Even Jewel and Dan couldn’t reach him in time to save the boy.

“Leave him alone, would you!?”

The attack didn’t strike Kaylee. The golem was taken aback with a strong rush from the sky. The spiky haired boy looked who had saved his life. A figure of someone with orange hairs was stood on top of the golem’s body, which had fell backwards and lied on the mountain’s path.

“Seyrarm!” Latina exclaimed.

Seyrarm stood on the golem’s body firmly. She turned around and found Kaylee had rescued from the stone wall by Dan’s help. The black haired boy smiled weakly at his best friend, who had saved his life just now.

“Thanks, Seyrarm,” he said slowly.

“No prob, Kaylee. This is what a friend for, right?” the engineer apprentice laughed. She raised her hands, asked him to high-five. Kaylee grinned widely and they do a high-five.

“Wait. If you’re here, then that means…?” Jewel raised an eyebrow.

Soon after, her question had been answered. A large airship with silver color and metallic blue lines at the exterior hovered above Judaica. It was the Albiore.

“Yo! Are you kids alright?” asked a certain someone from the airship’s speaker.

“Yeah, we’re alright, Master!” replied Seyrarm cheerfully.

“Good! I’ll see ya in the Tower, okay?” and he hovered the airship to the bare land nearby.

Jewel sighed. “Still not change huh? Why people said that ‘people change, including their heart’? Guess it’s not work for Rudner’s case, eh?” she shrugged, followed by Dan and Lily’s laughs.

“Well, well! What are you doing here, Seyrarm?” asked Latina curiously.

“Master found your presence here, so Louise sent us to fetch you guys,” the orange haired girl smiled, “More tasks waiting for him, so…well…you know my point.”

“Ah yes…” Kaylee sighed, “I guess being a good agent kinda like a pain in its own way.”

Everyone laughed at the comment. “Oh yeah. Now that Sierra is here, we could get a ride in it to return home as well,” Dan pointed out and turned around to Jewel. “Where’s our payment?”

Jewel pouted. “At time like this, you really remind me of Louise, you know that?”

Everyone once again burst in uncontrollable laughs. Jewel said she had their payment at her base, so they decided to go descend the mountains. While they had the trip back to the city, the six had a conversation.

“So…did the others interrogate Faustus?” Latina asked the orange haired girl. “You know that freak destroyer…”

Seyrarm chuckled. “Funny you asked that. Freya killed him because she couldn’t endure her anger of your sudden teleportation. I guess that’s what meant by mother’s love to her children, huh?” she grimaced, “She kept hit and hit him, until he died. Pretty scary if I do say myself.”

“Well, Freya always one who very protective toward her beloved people,” Lily grinned, “She once threatened some kids that used to bully Dan when we’re still kids.”

Dan blushed at the comment. “But I did return the favor to those bad boys, did I? After I spent 5 years learnt swordplay from Louise…”

“Erg…well, you did! But you still got some bruises because you weren’t strong enough! Don’t be proud of that!” replied the brunette lady. And the couple had a partner quarrels once again. The other could only laugh and let them be.

They finally arrived back to the town. The six headed to the Tower, and Rudner was already took a small rest on the lounge.

“Yo. Took you guys long enough,” the old man commented, sat down correctly to give proper greetings.

Jewel approached Rudner and kicked his knee, made the old inventor groaned. “Moron! Don’t enter my lounge without my permission, would you?!” she grumbled and gave some more bruises to the man’s body.

“Ow! Ow! Ow!! Okay, okay, I understand…” Rudner blocked some attacks. Even Jewel supposed to be younger than him; she’s the leader of Crystal Cross Hunter, the strongest Hunter organization formed in the world currently. And also, youngsters could overpower the elders too, couldn’t they?

“Jewel, give the old man some break. You don’t want to kill him this fast,” Dan smirked and sat on the floor, next to Rudner. He pulled out his hand, pointed at the black haired woman. “Now, handed over our payment.”

“Yeah, yeah, be patient, please,” Jewel sighed and went to her cupboard.

She returned after took some things. She handed over a med sized pouch filled with a hefty sum of money to Dan. The brunettes counted the money and agreed after decided that the contract had been fulfilled.

“Well, then, I guess it’s time to go home, kids,” said Lily cheerfully.

“Wait, there’s still some gifts,” the oldest woman in the room placed some orbs onto Kaylee’s palms.

The black haired boy blinked before realizing it were Relics, the source of all magical powers. Everyone in this world who wished to travel through wilderness couldn’t easily wander around only depending to their weapons. Those weapons must equipped by Relics. The Relics itself contain various elements. Kaylee had one Relic embedded in his favorite bangle which he always wore whenever he is. Latina’s gloves imbued with the power of Relics itself. With those, they could strengthen their power.

“Well, I doubt you will rely on these things so much, with the fact that Louise wouldn’t allow you to get out of the capital,” Jewel smirked mischievously, “Still, I believe it’ll come in handy. If not to be sold when you guys ran out of money, well…whatever! I just want to give you some souvenirs!”

Kaylee nodded and grinned widely. “Thank you, Auntie Jewel!”

“Now, stop with the Auntie things!”

Everyone burst into uncontrollable laughter. After packed themselves, they headed to the Albiore, which was landed outside the town. Jewel waved her hands frantically as she saw the airship floated up high on the sky. The kids on the airship also waved their hands, saying their good bye to Judaica.

It sure is only for a short time, but I do enjoy the town. The town filled with peaceful and also fresh air. Though something bother me because Auntie Jewel’s comment…why Dad wouldn’t let us gets out of the city? We were strong enough to fight those monsters, and we even had our Relics to protect us. I kept that in mind and noted myself to ask Dad and Mom about the mother. First thing first, we must return to Erebus safely, and it seems our trip not a safe one…
