The Calling

By Reggie

8-2-2008

There is a town full of people and places

filled with great friendly faces, just within several paces

Strangers and friends alike came be made welcomed

simply by just knocking on the door

There is a town full of people and places

filled with shops and no locks

Not much crime, not much whining

just a hefty time at the Marion docks

There is a place filled with faces

that are merry and bright

day and night they tend their fields

at night they tend their homes

no sound, no sign of their work can be traced

There is a place among the bushes

with horns and lights

where the law resides, those scary men

no need to drive to the station

you won't find them on their tushes

There are places in this town

full of song and praise

many houses there are, in fact

you won't ever find anyone at home

during Sunday morning's tune

There are places in this town

religion and spiritual

that set up their camps and pitch their tents

but not toward heaven, but toward Hell

Let's teach Scripture and love

but let's add to the Lord above

hide our faces behind our doctrine

soon, this town, in wholeness, we will drown

There are places in this town

where the weak come and the strong gather

great bread of life mixed with bandages

fixing the wounds enough to cover with sand

but let's not fill the soul

with truth, forgiveness, and burdens that could be lighter than a feather

There isn't a place in this town

where one could go and lay their feet

on solid ground, rooted with stones and rocks

Probably just enough to stay on the path

but to deepen the forest within

you would need to travel into the great black deep

You won't true teaching or deep meanings discussed in Him

where are the thirsty souls hungry for radical living in the Way?

There are places here that live off of the souls of men

Just be moderate, be normal, no extremes needed

Let's not judge others for their sin

Especially those who serve the same master

Even though He Himself says put away sin

Or else the camp shall He indeed

with His wrath cave in

There is a town that something is needed

Knowledge, power, radical change, strong foundation

Someone to guide the people into a deeper meaning

full of God, Christ, the Spirit of God

They surely need to understand

There is more than just staying alive

Live with the power while giving evil an unwelcomed nod

There is a town that is in great need

The people, who are starving for deeper truth

God so desires to feed

But how can He feed when what they are getting

is only a small beed of truth

while the wolves gladly feast on their deeds

Add in liberal and heresy

together you have an adulterous ceremony

Don't trust the wolf that dresses like a lamb

or the man with the band-aid

though his intention is good

where, then, is his fire to protect their minds with

to transform their minds to combat the evil forces

with sound doctrine and powerful lives?

So...I guess it's just not there

But wait...are there any that stand out among them?

There is one, indeed, who goes by and by

through bike and four wheels

he travels during the night

seeking the lost to tell them of their fate

committing them to God to be saved from His hate

There also in lies another

fighting for his people, his town

the forces of evil have crept and crowned

their palace disguised as a cross with pews

surely, he needs help, no doubt

But though he stands his ground

His tools, though he possesses none, he is not without

Together, the proclaimer and the mediator

seek to find a way

to redeem their town from the curse of falsehood

A strong man, powerful and mighty

armed with the deeper knowledge of the Word

needs to be found, the evil forces he can keep at bay

There is a place where souls are needed to be saved

Each and every place is not to be skipped

Although there is good, many are well behaved

can't stop until each one, their soul

in the blood of Jesus their robes need to be dipped

How to reach the young ones, those traveling petals of destiny?

What to fill their minds with, other than drugs and merriment?

How does the old draw the young with their words

when the young, with their heads, are so full of kurds?

It may take another, like them, to show them it's okay

that following Jesus, with passionate hearts, is the only way

There is a place, full of hills and grain

kept in boroughs and cases

In cans and us, shall we open the truth to their hearts?

Who will go and fight for the Lord

in that places where wolves soar

where people are starving for truth

where people are needing a deeper well

someone to show them more than their world

sent only from the Lord?

It is this place, my heart turns to

It burns brightly with a burning flame

Can only see the souls of men

captured and beaten

tormented by sin

Others I see, hiding behind their morality

Inside their hearts are wicked

nothing can touch it but a powerful hand

The town itself is doomed to destruction

These preachers prey on the weak and steal their meat

While making the poor innocent lambs lick their feet

There is a place, a town, you see

Where the proclaimer has cast it aside

where the mediator silent cries out to God, in Him He still abides

One is needed to stir things up

to gather His people within this place

to prepare for His coming, swiftly and soon so make haste

There is a place and town

that resides on flat ground

This ground is touched by many

you don't have to every worry about pennies

From the sky, comes one that has been summoned

From the east, he goes, armed with power

to go and carry out his mission

to rescue His children

from the town's beast

And so He does, calling not the greatest but the least

Indeed, there he will go...should he go?

Has the Lord's voice called from comfort and stability?

Gave my heart a fiery passion to serve Him and feed His people...

To that little town, He beckoned me...

So I was there for a while and found nothing to be

Unusual, but strong, but so I thought...how wrong I was

So the next time I stayed, those first three days I prayed

Lord, what shall I do here for You?

Have you put me here to do something for You?

the answer I sought with tears and hunger

Within a week, I would be there no longer

Even now, far, far away

that land still beckons me

God's leading is surely seeking my home to flee

So here I stand, with knees and arms

lifted high to heaven, to His throne

Hearing this great sound, nothing but divine alarms

the time has come, your skills to hone

Say goodbye to your home and friends

Your story there soon ends

To a place full of ripe and hungry souls

their shepherd and leader, you will play those roles

But what holds you up boy?

Gird up your loins and go to the Lord's work

I'm waiting on the Lord to make the path right

Going in haste is unwise, my mind still isn't here

I am simply waiting for the Lord to make it clear

Time is counting, time is almost here

only twenty days, with three nights

are left until the doors to the cougar are open

Shall I then be among them?

So, Lord, what is Your will?

The fire, passion, and desire to go to this place

has filled my heart and I cannot stop it!

Just one word is all I wait for now...

Just to know that the calling You gave me

is pure, righteous, holy and sound

Because I know once I heed it

my feet will be lighter than a feather

because finally it will the place where

my choices shall bound me there

and from now on, those choices shall see

the aftermath of my life, you will change, forever

There is a place I shall soon go

Why...because I was told so!

While I am waiting, I will grab my sword.

As soon as the Lord says so

As a Christian soldier I shall then march forward
