Deeper Than Deep Bluer Than Blue

-

The moon pulls me down under the tide

I’m deeper than deep yet I’m still alive

Suspended as if in a bubble but there is no air

I should be bluer than blue yet I breathe as easy as you

I defy the orders of science and reasoning

I have been to the end and back to the start

I have seen all the things that there is to be seen

But I’m blinder than blind and I’m deafer than deaf

The silent arms welcome me wider than wide

And warmer than warm but the ice will not melt

Encasing my heart like armoured plates

My love has been lost, but so has my hate

My highs aren’t so high, and my lows aren’t so low

Through all the yesterdays gone and all the tomorrows still yet to be

I’m free by ascension but bound to a stone at the bottom of the sea

This birthright, this is my plight

I am as you are, but I am older than centuries

And as young as a child

My heart has been tamed but my mind is still wild

What can I do with this body of mine

That refuses to do, what my brain tells it to

So I’ll remain deeper than deep, unable to speak
