Chapter 4 : Good Riddance
“Leave!” I screamed, clutching the towel tighter against my body.
“I’m sorry.” Laith blurted out, glancing down my body for a second before rushing out of the room with a smirk. I slammed the door behind him with a force I didn’t even know I had.
Oh my god.
Holy pig’s feet.
That did NOT just happen. He did NOT just see me wearing only a towel.
….Of course he did. As if I could even get that lucky.
I rummaged through my drawers madly, doing two things at once. I needed something comfortable to wear and I needed to vent, majorly. I went though all five drawers quickly, bras and shirts when flying into the air and landed in heaps on the shaggy, gray carpet.
I decided to wear a baggy navy shirt and loose fitting jeans. I craved to hear the voice of someone with no testosterone in their body. I need to call my best friend Kaitlyn McHenry.
“Oh my gosh! He didn’t”
“He did!” I fumed into my Krzr.
“You’re soooo lucky, and you don’t even realize it” She sighed into the phone “I wish I were you. If you don’t go for him, I will.”
I scoffed.
“Yeah right! He keeps breaking rule number two. I thought you went for good guys?”
She giggled. “Maybe my tastes are changing.”
She let out another giggle but then, her voice turned serious.
“I have a feeling he will fall for you though.” Kaitlyn said softly.
A voice cut in before I could retort.
“I agree!”
Kaitlyn was my best friend, but there was someone who was around her even more than I was.
“Annie?” I asked cautiously.
“Obviously.” I swear I could see her rolling her eyes at this.
“Well, he would be breaking rule three.” I reminded the both of them.
“But” Kaitlyn contradicted me “He already broke rule two. What makes you think that he won’t break three?”
“Still…” I whine. I knew I sounded childish but I couldn’t help it. I didn’t want this to happen. I didn’t want my first boyfriend, my first love to be a man only wanting to get into a girl’s pants.
I heard a massive collision on the other side of the line and I rolled my eyes. Kaitlyn and Annie probably crash into each other. It was so like them.
I heard shouting on the other line and the phone abruptly disconnected. I was positive I wouldn’t be able to reach them so I didn’t even try to call back.
I glanced around my room and cringed. Clothes were scattered and piled all over the floor. My large oak bed was still unmade from this morning (I blushed at the thought), and I put myself to work.
Cleaning was my strange obsession. When I cleaned, I immersed myself in the work and for that moment, I forgot all my self doubts and stupid lies. I was just me, washing away the stupidity of life.
I glided back and forth, carrying piles of clothes and folding them neatly. I heard the garage open and then shut a few minutes later. I assumed Laith went out somewhere.
Good riddance.
I needed my time alone.
