The droplets fell upon my window pane
Inviting me to come outside and play,
But I was forced to answer to the rain,
“I think that I shall stay inside today.”
The thunder, it responded loud and strong,
Demanding in a voice so hard and clear
That I must come outside, if not for long,
And made my body tremble with such fear.
The lightning cracked and struck outside my door.
The wind howled and screeched my name in shrieks,
I was so scared that I fell to the floor
And shook so much hard that I could hardly speak.
I knew what damage such a storm could do
Because before I had seen it in you.
