O’ how I wish

O’ how I wish

To steal a child’s eyes

Naïve, accepting

And eager to please

Adorn mismatched clothes

Without any thought

Of other’s thoughts

Using curiosity

As my guide.

--

What happened to me?

School has taught me

Who to be,

How to act,

What to see?

What happened to the child?

That unbiased soul,

That infinite purity.
