In the east, the sun reached
As far as the eye could see
But what the sun didn’t touch
Was the void between you and me

In the south, the rain softened
Even the tallest trees
But what the rain didn’t soothe
Was the bluntness between you and me

In the west the wind made
All the coldness flee
But what the wind didn’t move
Was the bleakness between you and me

In the north, the darkness
Kept on reigning free
And what the darkness kept alive
Was the shadow between you and me
