For those of you just being introduced to this story line, my suggestion would be to read A Story of Us first. this story can probably be read on it's own, but you'll get introduced to the characters and stuff better that way.
Chapter 1
“Auntie ‘Wissi, awe you up yet?” the voice came from the same source as the small insistent hand that was poking at her. She groaned and rolled away from the annoyance, only to bump into her husband. She looked at him groggily, only to see him grinning down at her. He was leaning on his side.
“Morning.” He bent down to kiss her, aware of the giggles coming from the small body on the other side of the bed. “We have an audience.”
“Why do we have an audience?” Krissi turned to look at the small boy who was staring at her with a big ‘I know you love me, so give me candy’ grin. “What are you doin’ here Matty? Where are you sibs and you parents?”
“Mommy’s giving Evie and Noah a baf.” The three year old stated. He scrunched his nose. “I alweady had one. I don’ like baf’s.” He looked at her seriously. “Mommy says you and uncle Tawwen awe gonna watch us today cuz she and daddy gotta wowk.”
“She did, did she?” Krissi sighed and stretched. It looked like she wasn’t going to sleep in. She looked at her nephew and raised her eyebrows, making him giggle. She thought back to when she first learned about the coming triplets. She and Tarren had just gotten back from their honeymoon –she blushed when she remembered that- and Leah had raced up to her all excited, worried, and unsure of what she should do. She’d just found out, and didn’t know how to tell her mate Mason, or Meredith and Isaiah- the pack Alpha’s. In the end, Meredith had already sensed the coming pups, and Mason had been delighted beyond words, a first for him.
After the triplets had been born, the pack schedule had changed to include the three new additions. Everyone took turns babysitting, and they all even rearranged their schedules so that someone could be with the babies at all times.
Since the triplets were a lot of work, Meredith asked that no one else think about bringing more additions into the already large pack if they could help it. And three years had passed, with the pack graduating from college and just starting their chosen careers. And now Meredith was pregnant, and nearing the end of that pregnancy. Krissi couldn’t help but smirk at the fact that Meredith had been the first to break her own rule.
“Auntie?” the voice broke into her thoughts and she saw that both her husband and her nephew were looking at her.
“Should we get breakfast?” Always the tactician, Tarren knew that she was never in a good mood in the morning until she’d had something to eat.
“Auntie Webecca made muffins!” The boy was practically bouncing where he stood, waiting for company. “She made chocolate, and bluebewwy muffins!”
“Sigh, at least I have a reason to get up.” Krissi said. While Tarren kept the boy occupied she changed out of her pajamas and into lounging clothes. Swooping down to pick up the boy, she left Tarren to follow her down the stairs and into the kitchen.
“Someone’s up early. What’s the occasion?”Christian stated from his place at the counter, where he was watching his mate place another tray of muffins in the oven.
“Someone sicked a puppy on me.” Krissi set the squirming boy down before accepting the cup of milk her mate held out to her. She wolfed down a couple of muffins before she did anything else, then settled in to watch the morning traffic.
Mason came running into the kitchen chasing a wet and naked 3 year old girl. Eve was just as much a handful as her two brothers, sometimes more. Unlike her brothers, she had her mother’s white blond hair and her father’s gray eyes. The boys had their father’s light brown hair and their mother’s gray-blue eyes.
A chase ensued as Christian and Tarren joined to help trap the wet, slippery, giggling girl. Mathias tried to be helpful, but ended up getting bowled over by his sister as she escaped the grasp of Christian. The two children ended tumbling head over heels, allowing the guys to grab them and bundle a squirming Eve back to her bath.
That excitement over, Krissi turned to look at Rebecca, who was leaning against the counter to watch the struggle. Noticing something, Krissi grinned at Rebecca. “Were you planning on telling us anytime soon?”
Rebecca snapped her head around in surprise, then looked down guiltily. “I wasn’t sure until yesterday… you know I’ve been feeling sick recently, but I just figured I’d caught the flu or something.” Rebecca worked as a nurse’s aid at a children’s hospital, so that was more than possible. “I haven’t mentioned anything to Christian yet, but yesterday at work I asked one of the nurses to check for me. It came back positive.”
“That’s wonderful news! And just think, as a werewolf, you only have to deal with 5 ½ months of pregnancy. How far along are you?” Krissi pestered her with questions until Rebecca clamped a hand over her mouth.
“Hush, I don’t want everyone to know yet, not with Meredith so close to her due date. But I’m 2 months along, and it’s a girl. Plus I don’t want to face Meri’s ire when she realizes we’ll soon have 6 little ones to deal with instead of just 5.”
“What’s this about 6 kids?” Tarren and Christian came and stood by their respective wives.
“Um nothing.” Both girls responded quickly, looking as guilty as if they’d been caught plotting.
“Uh huh. You’re not pregnant are you?” Asked Tarren, placing his hand on Krissi’s stomach; which she promptly swatted away.
Christian did the same to his wife, but froze. He turned to look at her, eyes wide. “Um…. I was trying to figure out how to tell you…” She said quietly.
He grabbed her hands and spun her around. “Seriously? I’m going to be a father?” Suddenly he stopped spinning. “I’m going to be a father...”
“Who’s going to be a what now?” Isaiah came down the stairs. He had overheard the conversation and was smirking at the now quiet gathering below him.
“So much for keeping it secret.” Rebecca sighed, to which Krissi grinned at her.
“We’d of found out the next time you ‘changed’ anyways.”
“Well I thought I should tell you guys… it’s a couple of days early, but Meri’s started her contractions. We’re going to the hospital.”
They let out a collective shout as Meredith made her way down the stairs. She was expecting twins, a boy and a girl. She and Isaiah had the names chosen, but had managed to keep them hidden, telling the pack that they’d find out once they were born.
“Yeah, well now that I know we have more to expect” here Meredith looked at Rebecca and Christian with resigned joy, “I want you two to come with us. That way they can check you out and make sure everything is good with you while we wait. Leah and Mason have work, and Krissi and Tarren are watching the triplets. Any questions? Good. Let’s get going.”
Krissi looked at Tarren. “Guess we don’t have a choice.” He smiled at her. Everyone liked watching the triplets.
“Come on boyo; let’s go rescue your parents shall we?” This time Tarren grabbed Mathias and carried him towards where Mason and Leah were appearing with Mathias’ now dry and clothed siblings, Eve and Noah.
“Hey Evie, didja have fun making the boys chase you?” Krissi asked as she took the girl from Leah. Eve giggled and nodded into Krissi’s shoulder.
Noah looked at her solemnly from where he was snuggled into his father’s arms. Noah was the quieter, shy version of his brother Mathias.
“You ready to go to the park Noah?” Krissi took him as well, since Tarren had his hands full with Mathias. The boy nodded.
Mason handed Tarren a bag full of essentials for the triplets. “You know, you two are all that’s left. You’d better get cracking if you want to catch up.” Mason said as he walked them to the door.
Tarren choked, and turned to glare at Mason. “That’s none of your business.”
“What?” Krissi looked at the two men, bewildered. “What do you mean?”
“Well now that Rebecca and Christian are going to have a kid too, you guys are the only ones left. It’s your turn now.” He grinned and ducked from the swing Tarren sent his way. “Have fun at the park.” He shut the door, effectively ending the conversation.
Krissi stared at the door openmouthed. Her mouth snapped shut, then, “You better be careful when you get home from work Mason. It’s my turn to cook tonight!” She shouted through clenched teeth.
Tarren laughed, and they packed the triplets into his car before driving to the park for the day.
Ok, so for all of you that were awaiting the sequel, here it is. I'm going to try and build up all the characters more in this stry. I hope you enjoy.
