Destination Unknown
He turns out the lights and takes one more dose
From the bottle hiding in his desk that drives away the ghosts
Of the past that he can't run from, and the present now his fate.
He lights another cigarette, and heads down to the gate.
It's another lonely night. As he looks up from his chair,
He sees the city blur on by him through the whiskey and despair.
His friends have all deserted him; his will is nearly gone.
He tries to drink away the demons that he can't face head on.
"Next stop, unknown!" the conductor calls,
As the train keeps on rolling where the dice may fall.
You may be tired of the heartbreak; you may be tired of the mistakes,
But you can't slow down; you can't go back;
Because the train keeps running...
The train keeps running...
The train keeps running down the track.
The zombies stagger by without a passing glance.
She tells herself she's done with their burned out trance.
Oh, but the cravings start to itch, they drive her insane;
Her mind spins through a tunnel like a runaway train.
Regrets creep in like stealthy foes;
They whisper in her ears, and now she wants to know
Why things must be the way that they are;
With so much lost for her to get this far.
"Next stop, unknown!" the conductor calls,
As the train keeps on rolling where the dice may fall.
You may be tired of the heartbreak; you may be tired of the mistakes,
But you can't slow down; you can't go back;
Because the train keeps running...
The train keeps running...
The train keeps running down the track.
There's a storm off in the distance. I close my eyes,
But no matter how tightly, I can't hide from all your lies.
I tried to make things work, but I can't live with more deceit;
So I buying my ticket; I'm taking my seat.
"Next stop, unknown!" the conductor calls,
As the train keeps on rolling where the dice may fall.
You may be tired of the heartbreak; you may be tired of the mistakes,
But you can't slow down; you can't go back;
Because the train keeps running...
The train keeps running...
