Engulfed In Flames

Like melted marshmallows
Between cracked crackers
And stale chocolate
You charred my soul

Like the quiet whisper
Of a lie uttered from your lips
And the hushed words
Formed by your lying mind

Like the hunter who lays a trap
Prepared for the faint, the weak
And the blood shed at it’s hands
You broke the strong skin of my flesh

Like the soldier on he battlefield
Thoughtless fighting, endless dream of death
And the last glimmer of the sky
As life slips from the protective armor

Like the last flicker of a candle
The wax slowly diminishing to nothing
Engulfed in flames, burnt beyond repair

You broke my heart
