G r a v i t y

Chapter One

Ever since I was a little girl, and my parents told me fairy tales, I wished for there to be a knight in shining armor for me. For a regular person, I know this would stop eventually, but for me it never seemed to. By the time I got into middle school, Manga was all I would read.

I was hooked to how the girls would always get this perfect guy. I was so sure that would happen to me as well, and I was so sure I knew who it was going to be.

"Oi, sleepy head! Get up, or you're gonna be late for school!"

"Five more-"

"Now!"

Someone found it convenient to grab my nice warm blanket off me. "Kenji!" I screamed, but my older brother was long gone, with my nice warm blanket.

I got up and went about my morning routine, when I finally got downstairs I shot him a pout, "You didn't have to do that, I just wanted ten more minutes!"

He looked up from his cereal with a raised eyebrow, "You said five."

I scoffed and attacked my waffles.

"My, my, you stayed up reading that stupid comic book again didn't you!" My mother grumbled.

"Mom! It's not stupid; I can't help it if we're not all perfect Kenji." I shot my brother a glare, which he returned with a smug smile. I got up abruptly, "I'm done."

My name is Tsukino Noda, fifteen years old.

I grabbed my bag and walked out the door, down the street and then… "Tsuki, over here!" I ran to the waving form.

"Morning Masaharu," I smiled whole-heartedly.

And this is my best friend, and long time crush Masaharu Unmei.

"What's the matter, you look grumpy? Another fight with Kenji I guess." I smirked. He knows me so well, and we're childhood friends, that's a bonus right?

I'm sure he likes me back; he's probably just too shy to admit it. So I'll wait, because that's what all the Shojou girl's do and they always end up with the one they like!

I shrug, "Mom just doesn't get that not everyone's like him." I grumbled.

He smiles and nods, "Tsuki, I-I need to talk to you." He stops abruptly and I feel my heartbeat quicken. "Let's meet up, at that sweet shop, after school, 'kay?"

I nod wordlessly, and he returns to his happy state. 'Could this be the day?! I knew the waiting would pay off.' My thought-train is rushing all over.

We get to school and unfortunately, I have math. Not only is it my least favorite subject, but it's also one of the two classes I don't have with Masaharu!

"See you later then, Tsuki," He smiles radiantly and walks off.

"As a whole," The teacher drones, "I'm very proud of this class in particular. We have some of the best scores."

I roll my eyes, already knowing I'm not one of them. I feel the guy seated next to me perk up, 'Show off.'

"An especial congratulations to Mr. Wakabe, he scored the full 100!" There was a round of applause and girls swooning over Mr. Oh-look-at-me-I'm-the-ace-of-the-tennis-team. I glanced at him briefly and saw him smirk at his score.

'Goddamn prick!' I muttered in my head.

"Ms. Noda, this really isn't one of your best scores," The teacher murmurs to me as he hands me my test.

'Sixty-four! Mom's gonna kill me!'

I hear a snicker and glare at Wakabe.

"Class dismissed!"

"I can tutor you if you want," He says with his superior, high handed voice.

I roll my eyes again, "Don't need it Shigure." I send him a death glare, which he is magically immune to, and walk out of class.

That one is Shigure Wakabe, the popular ace of the Kou Academy Tennis Team. I admit he's smart and sporty, but he's so full of it!

The end of the day had finally come, and I was so happy that I was finally going on a date with Masaharu, and not even stupid Shigure could mess this up for me!

"Tsukino," He smiles and walks over, "Ready to go."

"Yeah!"

"I'll have the Strawberry Parfait, and a French Vanilla milkshake." I reply, and close my menu.

"Chocolate Truffle Cake and a Mint Smoothie, please," He does the same.

"So," I asked, once the waitress is out of earshot, "What did you wanna talk to me 'bout?"

Masaharu fiddled with his fingers not sure of how to bring it up, "I-I need your help," He managed, flustered.

"Sure, fire away."

"I need to find someone a gift, a girl, for Monday."

I mentally smirked, 'Helping me get a gift and then at the last second telling me that it's for me! That's so totally romantic!' But on the outside I just nod.

"You see I really like this girl, and I want to confess to her, on her birthday."

I guess I was so caught up in my dream world I didn't realize what he was fully saying, maybe if I had been a little more down to earth the next blow wouldn't have hurt so bad. "Who is she?" I asked, fully expecting an 'it's a secret' till the last minute.

"Oh, she's, um, in your class. Her names Reiko Azuma," He replied cheerfully.

I froze, 'Reiko…?' I bit my lip and forced myself not to cry. I wouldn't cry, no not at all!

"So can you help me shop for a gift?"

I bit down on my lip harder. "Since tomorrow's Saturday, it's a half day. We can go shopping after school then."

He smiled that radiant smile of his, "Thank you so much Tsukino, I really appreciate it."

"Yeah…No problem."

A/N: Okay, so I was thinking of making this a one-shot, but I guess the idea kind of went out of control in my head and now it has morphed safely into a story. It's going to be slower than my other story I hope these things kind of get out of hand. Ha-ha
