A Poem.

When they chain me at last and hold me fastened against a thousand ageless peaks, and load me down with a weight of eternity. If they crush me beneath stone so that my bones break and shatter and I cannot move, even then through blinding pain I will love you.

If fate howls at me I will howl back. If Jobian Tempters whisper to me I will Sing the Praise of Truth for delivering you to me. If your flesh is torn, if your body maimed, your hair shrived and dead, stand before a mirror as flesh hangs off you, your beautiful face skeletal it may be, all I will see is my love.

Let them break you and grind you with wheels of fate. Let them howl GIVE UP let them SCREAM she is NO MORE. As long as you can feel me, touch me, see me sense me taste me I will hold you to me like the preciousness you are to me and still I will love you.

God has Given me Perfection. Who will undo what he has made? Even in piecemeal your are wonderful. And at last when they take you from me, and I bend and bellow with rage, they'll wonder, We crushed his lungs, what gives him song? Anguish will be my voice, hate will be my air, and I'll take the whole vile world in my ruined hands and smash it again and again against the wall of time, for my love of you.

And when we are dead and gone, I will stand before my God. If he throws you from heaven then I will go too. We'll wander together for eternity, the ruined slopes of Purgatory a paradise made by you, until he recalls his Perfection. As long as your spirit is near mine no fire can burn no wind can tear no blade can sever our love.

When at last we stand in the choir of God, as all creation pulses with the heavenly song, God I will See in your form, as I do now, And smile, we will, at each other, God in you and God in me, to know that our eternity of bliss started earlier than most, to see the love of all things when I see you.
