The Faeries' Gate
”Deep in the woodlands there's somewhere the door,
That is hid beyond roses and faeries and lore.
The gate that is carved out of onyx and dreams;
But never as true as you thought it would seem.
-
To reach it you never step farther than light;
Behind it the riches and treasures of night.
It's the gateway of legends and forgotten things,
Of fairytales, prayers and glorious things.
-
When there in the forest you pass by the gate,
That stands in the middle of a flowery glade,
You surely shall realize the dreams that it weaves,
But still stands unnoticed the danger it means.
-
The gate that is legends is more than a dream;
The shadow of nightmares you barely can glean.
The bones long forgotten and dusty and lost,
That lay 'neath the grass unaware of the cost.
-
And there at the steps of the fairyland's gate,
Are those who have tried but resisting the fate;
Those who the hand of the death haven't touched;
Unliving, undead – only being as such.
-
There's not a soul who'd remember the past,
No one to recall the dreams that won't last.
No one to see all that lays out of sight;
Only faeries and goblins who dance in the night.”
