The Last Light

The wind is now white noise
Your scent absconds this pillow
I hunch, vertebrae protruding
Cracked in the middle

Shards of darkness cut me blind
Six lights, five lights, four lights, three
Benevolence, patience, hope, faith
As strong as I am I will always bleed

Charred grass in the distance
The scent a scant dissonance
With iris participants
All fail to make a difference

Love flickers and dies
Black crimson held it hostage
Brick becomes the world
The last light on the bridge

So shines the last light
On this fateful night
If it lasts ‘til morning
I will have another day
But in this endless mourning
I will fade away
