Let The Rain Fall
People learn a lot from life
As we sail through time.
It’s not always kind or fair.
But it turns out alright
In the end.
Lessons are littered
At every which turn.
Morals are taught,
Terms are defined,
Questions are answered,
Secrets are revealed.
Time unravels a great wonderment
Of surprises.
You never know
What could come of it.
We deal with many struggles
As we begin to age.
Some experience more angst
Than others.
The complications of
Life and death,
Whether directly through you
Or through another person,
Are troublesome.
But the feelings you have
For another person
That can envelop you,
Consume you,
Overcome you,
Blind you,
Touch you,
Curse you…
They drench you like
A turbulent rainstorm.
It relentlessly pours down upon you,
But you let it fall
And roll down your cheeks.
You like the rain.
You want to stand outside
And throw your hands in the air
And face the sky with a childish grin
And let yourself go.
Even when the wind begins to blow
And whistle through the trees,
You’re not afraid.
Let it come.
Let it wash away your sorrows.
Let it take its course.
Despite the ferocity it sometimes takes on,
It can be gentle and becoming.
Be calm.
Be relaxed.
Let the water flow effortlessly
Down the road.
As it splashes onto your jacket,
And then the floor.
It mixes with your tears,
But you don’t care.
The lightning flashes
And the thunder roars,
But you remain unmoved.
You’re not afraid of it.
There’s nothing to fear.
It’s just rain.
You’ll dry.
The sun will always rise
And bring with it a new day.
