Alejandra
I could hardly believe my eyes when I first went to the hospital to see him. He was asleep when I went to see him. His body was broken so badly that I hardly wanted to look. At the same time, I wanted to hold him in my arms and tell him that everything would be okay.
You can not imagine how my heart wrenched when I got that call from the hospital. When I saw the number pop up on my caller ID, all I could think was that they were calling me to come and identify a body. Luckily, that wasn’t the case. Luckily, my little boy was still alive.
Barely.
They told me the most awful words when I got there. They told me that Ethan was a jumper. I couldn’t believe it. They told me he tried to kill himself by jumping off the roof of our apartment building. That just doesn’t sound like the Ethan I know.
Sure, Ethan was the kind of boy who spent most of his time alone. That doesn’t make him depressed. And that certainly doesn’t make him suicidal. He had friends. He was never home; instead, he was always out with his friends, especially this girl, Massri.
In any case, he was far from depressed. He was happy being by himself. And he certainly wouldn’t do that to himself.
He wouldn’t do that to me.
