sentimental

warmth,
not against my throat
but the base of my spine this time around

“Did you miss me?”
“What’s in it for me if i say yes?”

two hands: his,
under my t-shirt
too thin against the chill of the oncoming storm,
under the waistband of my sweatpants too.

“only what i have the power to give,”

no one had ever held me like this before.
the lighting blinded me
so i closed my eyes,
and he kissed me with
chapped lips & a promise.

“the world.”
“That’s a lot to offer.”

i shivered then,
maybe because the thunder
seemed to roar inside of me
or from the passion i could see burning
in his eyes.

“Now granted, it’s my world, and you’d be a part of it,
but it’s a world nonetheless.”

a/n: a past conversation, a dream, and last week's storm.
