The Chronicles of Brian and Justin

Author's Note – I know this is a different style than what you are used to from me. It was different for me, too. Anyway, the chapters are quite short. And it's a story told in poetry, sort of. I'm not that great at poetry in the first place, but the poetry is not really coming from me, it's coming from the characters… and their thoughts. Does that make sense? I guess you have to read it to get it. Though my usual readers may not like this, I hope someone enjoys it.

Grocery Store Blues

I've worked here
For four years
Promoted to supervisor
last year.
same as you.
Like somehow that actually
means anything.

Brian, oh Brian
wherefore art thou, Brian?
Late, again.
I'm supposed to leave
in ten minutes.
I can't leave if you're not here.
Sometimes I pretend that
you do it on purpose
because you want...
well... me.
yeah, right.
that doesn't even make sense

you come strolling in
with your messy hair
and no nametag
and your shirt isn't even buttoned all the way
i can see your tattoo
or i would
if i was looking.
which i'm not.

"hey, jay, wassup?"
but i'm too annoyed
to even tell you
my name's not jay
it's JUSTIN.
i just hand the keys to you and
leave.

brian, oh brian
if i didn't like you so much
i'd probably hate you.

Author's Note – I know, it's kind of weird. But hopefully you'll keep reading. I'll also try to keep the updates more frequent since the chapters are so short.
