Quarterbacks and Twin Cheerleader
Tab: Interesting chapter title Mar.
Ele: I suggested something with the word Quarterbacks cause that’s what really happens in this chapter.
Nic: Begin!!
Tab: Poor Kla hasn’t said anything……
Nicole made it just in time for her math class where the teacher, Mr. Clon, flipped on a foot ball game while all the other students passed notes and gossiped. Nicole of course had her face buried into the book she was reading before. Luckily, the teacher didn’t care; again, he was just happy he was getting paid.
The room was small with five rows of ten desks with the seats connected. No posters lined the wall but an occasional multiplication table pined to a bulletin board. Cheerleader girls dressed in skirts barely passing the dress code ending a little above the knees, all red. Red ribbons tied into bows on their heads giving them a perfect yet stupid view that made a picture of legally blonde stuck in Nicole’s head. All the boys wearing football jerseys for the upcoming football game that was tomorrow after school.
“You’d think they’d all resort to making out at any movie showing at the theater.” The boy next to her said, his voice slightly higher than a guy’s and dressed in a plaid sweater with a long sleeved polo underneath; Gregory; except Nicole called him Greg for sentimental reasons. Of course she had already discussed with Greg about the incident in the library before class, not to mention the couple was in the same class as both of them. “I mean seriously, they haven’t even come back yet have they?”
Nicole glanced over her book through her smudged glasses, scanning the room before returning to her book. “Seems not, either they went on or the librarian’s still chewing them out.” She said, glancing over to Greg who was busy fixing his hair as he glanced at a mirror, deciding if he should try lip gloss or not. “You’re like my feminine half you know that Greg.”
Greg smiled as he ran a finger along his eyebrow. “I totally am.” Suddenly a student casually walked through the door knocking on the door twice his moth moving quickly.
“Principal.” The guy whispered. Mr. Clon grasped the remote and flicked off the TV quickly motioning for a student to switch off the lights as he turned on the projection machine, turning it so the projection showed on the white board and he quickly put on a word problem; one he showed all the time when the principal randomly came in to check the class.
Nicole closed her book and sighed as everyone pulled out their ill-used math books and opened them at the exact same page that showed on the white board. Nicole numbly took out her pen and started scribbling about ways to kill her father over her math book.
A knock came to the door and Mr. Clon pretended to stop in mid sentence. “Come in!” he shouted. The principal entered, followed by a tall guy and a girl wearing jeans and a white blouse.
“Ah Mr. Clon, I have two new students for your class.” The Principal sounded, gesturing towards the two that came into the room with him. “Students, this is Jacob, a quarterback from Europe, and his twin sister Alexis. Please make them welcome. Mr. Clon, I hope you find their schedules quite along one another. If you could look them over and pair them with someone who can show them around please.” Mr. Clon nodded, obviously ready for any job the principal was too lazy to do. The principal dismissed his self and left the room back to his office full of donuts. Some turned the lights back on and Mr. Clon turned off the projection screen.
Mr. Clon sighed and motioned to the newbies. “Come here and show me your schedule, I’ll pair you up with someone.” The future jock and cheerleader approached the teacher’s desk and handed in their schedules. Mr. Clon accepted them and eyed it down. “Eh… Okay let’s see. Ummm. Jacob I’ll pair you up with um… what the hell is your name again?” Mr. Clon started, pointing. Nicole froze, her pen in mid plan for murder on her math book as she glanced at Mr. Clon, his finger straight and ridged, pointing at her. “Yeah you, girl; you’ll pair up with her. You can just take that seat right there.” Nicole sat right next to the teacher’s desk with one empty in between and Greg to her right, she stared down Mr. Clon; her eyes reading ‘don’t you fucking dare’.
Jacob placed his M.U.D backpack down next to his desk and sidled into his seat with his hand out towards Nicole. “I’m Jacob. Nice to meet you….” His voice trailing off as he waited for her to answer. Nicole rolled her eyes and pulled out her book, pushing her smudged glasses up her nose as she sank back into her book. After a while Mr. Clon finally picked a ditsy girl named Chloe to be Alexis’s partner.
As Mr. Clon’s football game commenced Nicole barely paid attention to her book, making sideways glances to Jacob, taking him in. It was a habit she developed for every new guy to school, one she hated especially when the new person was a football player. His shoulders were broad and muscular, signs of working for defense on the football team; another thing she hated. No doubt he had a decent pack hidden under his jersey; she could already tell his arms were developed well enough for throwing the pig skin. No doubt Jacob would be a great quarterback for the team tomorrow.
Nicole quickly shook her head and continued to her book, shifting around so her vision was more directed to Greg who just stared lovingly at Jacob; go figure.
--
The classes passed by slowly with Jacob following obediently behind Nicole who hadn’t breathed a word. Time sped by until finally lunch arrived and Jacob finally separated away to eat with the other jocks. Nicole took a wordless seat on a table in the far back of the large lunch room with Greg; a Subway sandwich in her hand, curtsey of her mother.
The cafeteria was large, no school food served but a hot dog and pizza stand located right outside. A disco ball hanging from the ceiling for any scheduled dances but all of them held at a different location. A wall of windows on one side of the room to filter in some light. Nicole and Greg sat right next to the windows, a rack of metal fold chairs for any groupie that exceeded the number of seats attached to the lunch tables. Nicole and Greg didn’t need that many seats.
“I mean, did you see him, Nic? Very broad, that’s one straight man I would not be disappointed in seeing.” Greg said, still staring lovingly across the room at Jacob who shouted the school cheers that could only be invented by simple minded jocks. Nicole was already covering her ears with her eyes shut close and her appetite already lost.
“Please, Greg. What did I say about fantasying about guys out loud? You promised you’d stop.” Nicole pleaded, pushing her sandwich far away as possible.
“Sorry Nic. Almost forgot. What about his twin sister?” Greg asked, nudging Nicole’s arm, which seemed to go numb at his touch.
“I already told you, Greg. I’m not gay like you are…” Nicole paused, eyeing the sandwich. “At least… I don’t think I am. I think you should really get back in the closet, Greg.”
Greg laughed, smacking his knee. “And I already told you that my name is Gregory! Gosh, and you told me to get out of the closet, and now you want me back in? Make up your mind sister.” Greg said giggling again.
Nicole smacked her forehead. “Okay then… Gregory.” She said, putting the hate and anger she felt for her father into the word, making Greg’s face turned scared shitless.
“On second thought, call me Greg. I fear for my life when you say that now.” Greg said, Nicole laughed in response, her laugh a radiant sound compared to her looks. “Nic, I told you over and over. Your laugh could win straight and gay guys alike, if you just used it more often.”
Nicole shook her head and sunk down against the table with her arms folded over one another with her head resting on top of them. “I’d only get a pity date that way, Greg.” She said, recalling last year when someone did just that but stood her up. Greg nodded, agreeing before he snatched her Subway sandwich and unwrapped it.
Nicole was in the middle of drifting to sleep when there was the sudden sound of feet and the tap of a lunch tray as someone sat down next to her. Nicole’s eyes squinted open and glared daggers at the new arrival, Alexis.
Alexis was different from the cheerleaders she was eating lunch just seconds ago. Her hair was brown, in sweet curls that rested on her shoulders; and she was smiling a real smile rather than a fake pity one that the cheerleaders usually gave as a gift to the two outcasts. Her blouse was open with a V neck where a silver necklace hung with a pearl at hanging down from it; hovering a few
inches from her cleavage. Finally, her eyes glistened a sky blue, same as her twin brother, something Nicole immediately noticed and despised.
“So… I hear you’re the book worm and you’re the only gay in the school.” Alexis said, pointing to Nicole first followed by Greg.
Nicole sighed; position her head away so she could stare at the ceiling in an endless no blinking battle. “So glad of you to notice.” She said, her voice dull and filled with annoyance.
“Ignore her, she’s always like that. I’m Gregory, Nic calls me Greg though… for… sentimental reasons.” Greg said politely, blinking his eyelashes quickly for stupid looks and they both shook hands. “Tell me… does your brother work out often? If so, then where?” Nicole pushed her arms father away and slammed her forehead on the table.
Alexis laughed. “I’m Alexis, nice to meet you Greg. You’re actually the first gay guy I’ve ever met.” Greg’s eyes brightened and he clapped his hands together in delight.
“I’m honored dear. I’m so glad you’re a fan.” Greg said smiling as Nicole once again banged her head purposely. “And what are your interests, Lexis?”
Alexis smiled and it soon faded. She glanced around for anyone listening even if all the tables in one mile radiance were vacant; exaggerating. “I’m actually in the same place as you, Gregory.” Alexis paused again to make sure the coast was clear, satisfied she leaned in closer. “I’m a lesb.”
Greg’s mouth dropped. “Really? Did you hear that, No Brain? She likes girls.” Greg whispered, referring to Nicole who continued to pound her head.
Nicole suddenly stopped and rested her chin back on her arms. “Thanks Greg…thanks…A lot.” She said before continuing to pound her head again.
“What you mean she’s the same way?” Alexis asked, her voice giving a hint of interest.
Greg laughed and shook his head. “Oh no. Nic is nothing like that. She’s just never had a boyfriend in her life so I’ve been trying to suggest it to her. Cause you see…” Greg trailed off as he leaned in and motioned for Alexis to do the same. “Nicole’s whole family is said to be cursed, all along the women in her family. It’s said it started five hundred years ago where her ancestor was cursed by a witch to only bear girls. The only way to break it is for one of the girls in the family to discover love before she loses her virginity. They say it will then break the curse; no one knows what that will benefit as though.” Alexis’s eyes were bright with excitement.
“Really? Wow. Is that true? Is there some proof that the curse is real?” Alexis asked, her hands shaking with excitement.
Nicole made a pathetic laugh and lifted her head up to stare at the wall once more. “There’s a book in the library talking about my families curse. My grandmother made it. So far I guess it’s
been true, everyone in my mother’s side of my family consisted of a single parent. The fathers having only relieved themselves and left before trouble of a child started. Too bad my father likes to staple his family’s name on my forehead.” Nicole said before she rolled her head on her arms to look at Alexis again. “Probably not going to stop at me with the record I have.” Alexis blinked, mulling over this new information.
“Does the curse care about the gender of the one the girl falls in love with?” Alexis asked, rubbing her chin as if a goatee was present.
Nicole’s glare deepened so that she squinted. “Don’t even think about it.” Alexis laughed at the sight of Nicole’s face.
“I’d help. Don’t have to worry about giving birth to another girl; at least it’s some relief.” Alexis said winking. “There’s always my twin brother as well.” She said, turning on her seat to rest her elbows on the table as she looked at her brother who cheered for the school till his lungs burst.
Nicole had to think about her offer but quickly pushed it aside, she hadn’t seen anyone have lesbian sex or even read about it; she only considered it. “Sorry, I hate jocks. They’re all the same. Tripping over cheerleaders with their blonde stupidity and stupid cheers that consists of being tossed in the air so their skirts will fly and get the football players stiff.” Alexis muffled out a laugh, it proceeding out her nose before she finally burst out laughing; her laugh sweet and radiant, almost rivaling Nicole’s laugh.
“I…haha… know what you mean.” Alexis stammered, wiping her eyes. Before she regained her composure she almost burst out laughing once again before she breathed deeply to finally relax. “Nope, not my brother. Trust me, I’ve taught him everything he knows.” Nicole’s eyes quenched, trying to remove the picture from her mind that had just formed. Alexis glanced over her shoulder towards Nicole and Greg. “I mean as in I’ve taught him on what kind of girl to look for. One’s with great personalities not pussies; that’s just a plus.” Nicole couldn’t help but muffle her laughter into her arms. “I’ll probably tell him about you Nicky.” Alexis said, winking.
“Great… make sure you leave him a good comment card for me. Along the lines of ‘nice muscles’.” Nicole admitted, burying her face back into her arms.
Alexis giggled in response. She got to her feet with her lunch tray. “I’ll do just that.” She said, quickly leaning down to peck Nicole on the top of the head. “See yah after school.” She said skipping off to the trash cans. Nicole stayed frozen, her hands relaxed against the table; maybe her senior year won’t suck so bad?
Greg watched as Alexis dumped her lunch and skipped over to her brother who still ate lunch. “I think she likes you already, Nic. You can use that to your advantage. Besides, you won’t know the difference when you haven’t experienced it in either way.”
Nicole straightened up and glared at Greg who just finished off her Subway. “Thanks for the analysis Greg… and you owe me another sandwich tomorrow.” She said, getting to her feet and
heading for her locker to get ready for next class and direct Jacob to where it was. Greg paused, glancing down at the Subway napkin and sandwich wrapping.
“Damn!”
Tab: OMFG!! That was funny!
Ele: I was thinking like that one episode of Bleach when that one girl was like Orihime has brains and boobs! Remember?
Nic: Classic.
Kla: Huh? Oh… I was silent because I knew the story would start if I didn’t say anything.
Ele: Good point…
