All teenage girls had been warned not to go out at night alone. It seemed there was a murderer on the loose. About ten girls, who were between the ages of fifteen and nineteen, had been found dead, their throats slashed open, but one girl could be seen walking through the dark streets towards her empty home on the night of the full moon.

It wasn't like if she disappeared or was found dead that someone would care. She was just a cold, unemotional beauty or so said the other teens. Oh yes, the girl was pretty with her shoulder-length light silver hair and eyes like frozen blue diamonds. It was her personality that drove everyone away. She was anything but friendly, but who could blame the young woman. She had lost her elder brother and parents to a fire at age fifteen, and about a year later her best friends had died in a car crash that she was the only survivor of. All these tragedies had taught her that attachments were a painful thing to have, so she kept everyone at an arms length to protect herself and her heart from being hurt again.

The young woman pulled her black coat closer to her as a harsh wind blew through the deserted street. Her black boots crunched through the fallen autumn leaves. Her eyes stared straight ahead as she walked. A slight pink tinted her cheeks, giving her pale complection some color. The weight of someone's gaze on her made her look about. She shook her head when she saw no one about. It seemed her mind was playing tricks on her again. She continued on, but stopped when she noticed something on the ground. She bent down and picked the object up. She stood back up, gazing wonderingly at the pure white rose she held. A small slip of paper was tied to it, which she pulled off. She opened the note and quickly read it. Her eyes widened before she read it again. The paper and rose fell to the ground as she looked fearfully around her before dashing off. Blood red ink stood out on the forgotten note, spelling out a simple message:

Such sweet sadness you hold within my lovely Ella.

As she disappeared around the corner, a single shadow tore away from its place against the wall. A young man wearing all black made his way to the note and bent down, picking up the white rose. He stood and sniffed the flower as a dangerous smirk crossed his face. It was time that he had found the correct girl. It was so sad that he had to kill all those other girls after learning they were not who he searched for. Sudden moonlight struck the man, showing short golden blonde hair and light green eyes and then reflecting off of two sharp canines.

The door slammed shut with her leaning heavily against it. Her thoughts raced, but one thought kept repeating over and over again: 'It can't be him, he's dead.' Slowly, her heart-rate lowered as she breathed in slowly before breathing out again. She pushed herself off the wall and reached out, flipping on the lights. Bright yellow artificial light filled the room. She took off her coat as she moved further into the room. She placed the coat across a black armchair as she toed off her boots as she moved towards another opened door. She slipped through the doorway, turning off the lights in the room she left while turning on the lights in the room she entered.

Ella stopped short when she saw her window was opened. She didn't remember leaving it open. She quickly crossed the room and closed the window, pulling the curtains closed before turning. She crossed the room again. She stopped when she felt like someone else was in the room. She turned around and glanced around the room. She shook her head again, wondering what was wrong with her today. Of course, there was no one else in her room. She turned back around and grabbed a set of PJ's. She turned and pushed open a simple looking door.

She entered the black marble bathroom, flipping on the lights. She shut the door before placing her PJ's on the counter. She quickly yanked off the blue T-shirt she wore, tossing it to the floor followed by her bra. She grabs the black tank top on the counter, pulling it on before unbuttoning her jeans, letting them drop to the ground and stepping out of them. She quickly pulled the pair of black silk sleep pants on before pulling off her socks and grabbing her dirty clothes. She moved towards the black wicker basket and tossed them in before leaving the bathroom, turning off the light behind her. She glanced up and stopped, her eyes widening. She took an unconscious step back, her back hitting the closed bathroom door.

"Hello, Ella," purred a soft voice. Ella just stared at the man in front of her. She could hear her heart pounding in her ears as her eyes took in the sight of someone who looked just like her dead friend.

"C...Calis," she murmured softly. The young man smirked at her, taking a step forward that she responded to by moving to the right as he answered:

"Who else would I be?" Ella stared at the man a moment before turning and speeding out of the room. She rushed to the front door, but right before she reached it, arms wrapped around her waist stopping her. She shouted in outrage as she struggled against the arms, kicking and flailing her arms and felt the man picking her off the ground and moving. Suddenly, she was tossed away from the man, and she twisted in the air. Her back hit the black leather couch in her living room, knocking the breath from her and dazing her. Once the stars were gone, she was looking up into the face of Calis, who had straddled her while she was dazed and had trapped her wrists above her head. She jerked her arms but gave up the struggle when she gained no ground. She gazed up fearfully at her long dead friend as she questioned, quietly:

"How? How are you alive? I saw you...you die."

"To be honest, I'm not really alive or dead. I guess you could say I'm the living dead," he answered, smirking down at her. Moonlight streamed through the gauze like curtains, reflecting off the fangs he possessed. She felt fear overcome her as she realized what her friend was. She sunk back into the couch, hoping he would take the action as her surrender. As she had hoped, he loosened his grip on her, which she took advantage of. She suddenly jerked forward, throwing him off of her and causing him to hit the table next to the couch as she scrambled off the couch and ran to the front door. She tore open the door and ran out of the house as he shook off his daze and stood. Once he saw the opened door, he growled before taking off after her.

Ella ran through the cold night, not knowing where she was headed. She just knew she had to get away. She quickly turned right and ran into the park, hoping she could find a police officer within. Her bare feet pounded against the rough concrete as she ran, glancing everywhere. She slid to a stop in front of the fountain in the middle of the park. She glanced left then right, trying to decide which way to go. The snap of a twig had her turning. Her eyes widened when she saw Calis standing a few feet from her.

"That wasn't a very nice thing to do now, Ella," he hissed as he stepped closer. Her eyes narrowed at him before she turned and shot off down the right pathway. She continued running even when a sharp pain in her side appeared. She slid to a harsh stop, her hands barely stopping her from falling over the railing, marking the edge of the cliff. She looked down at the dark crashing waves before going to turn. She was stopped though by two arms wrapping around her arms and waist and that pulled her back against a hard chest. She struggled against the iron-like vice as she shouted:

"Let go of me!" A evil-like voice hissed in her ear, causing her to stop her struggle in fear:

"I will never let go of you. You are mine for now and always, my dear Ella." She swallowed the lump that had formed in her throat before whispering, fearfully:

"What do you mean? You're a vampire, and I'm human. I'll die at some point, so there's no way I can be yours always."

"You're wrong, my dear. I have already said I'll never let you go, and that means even death shall never part us," he purred into her ear. Her eyes widened in fear as her struggles increased, and she hissed:

"You can't be serious!" He chuckled before stating:

"Oh, but I am. You will learn to love your new reality, my love. You will have all of eternity to learn to." With those last words, he bit harshly into her pale flesh. She screamed in pain as her life's blood left her. Her eyes took in the bright and full moon one last time before death overtook her, and her mortal life ended.
