The Stony Path Underfoot
-
Early one morning, when the sun was still dawning
And the birds were just waking up
I felt a presence calling me to come
So I went, I was young, but I never stopped since
I think I hear it calling still
So I’ll walk until it stops, or it tells me to go home
With the lessons that I’ve learned
My feet have bled while I’ve been led
Past the pastures of green, past the rivers stream
Up the stony path, with tiny daggers underfoot
I’ve suffered for my faith but never forgotten my place
I’m but a pebble on this stony beach
Empowered with the gift of speech
I shall teach all I’ve seen, only when it’s time
Until then I shall continue on this path
And never waver or ask why
I’ll do this till I die, if I must
I have faith so I trust the greater cause
