In the life that I am living now I struggle to understand why the society that has lasted for millions of years suddenly crumbled. Our vast empire, the empire of the ancients has fallen due to our arrogance against those who wish to do harm to the world in which we originated. Our world Gaia or Earth as humans’ call it has been our mother and will remain our mother as our society thins. Demons plague the streets of Atlantis City and have ravaged the country side killing off billions. Those that lived off-world too have faced this plague. I am only saddened by the fact that our world had fallen apart. After that Great War with the demons of hell nearly 65 million years ago with the destruction of nearly the entire planet’s species we took our wars to space.

When we returned to our home world we once again waged war and that nearly killed our whole race. Well to be exact many races. You see before the humans formed their first words our society was already in the stars. We were at different worlds forging alliances creating trade and so forth. We started at first with some sentient insects when they ruled the earth and it grew till nearly humanlike creatures the Weres took form. Elves and other creatures of magic also joined the society as it developed into a powerful empire ruled by a just government. The government would not dare act against its people for even with its powerful armies it knew that the peasants out number them even more.

Life was fair and peaceful within our world till the day those dreaded demons came. Those demons that came from the darkest pits of hell and space attacked our home world of Gaia and tore it apart. They sent a bomb that nearly wiped out all life. We managed to salvage the creatures that our world has and carefully got them off world to another planet that we seeded to keep them alive. It was here that our first war began. Weapons were made and battles fought till the sun no longer shined for a long…long…time.

It was then that our world was plunged into darkness and food on earth was scarce. We managed to trade with other worlds to help feed our people but even then it was too risky. The Gulak-Araiah is what they are called they are dark devils evil in every way. I guess that is where the human’s word for Satan came from. These monsters came from the dark reaches of space and all they wanted was to rule the entire universe. We were the only ones in their way and so the war was plagued to our society.

After the wars we lost badly to their superior fighting power. These beings that were born for conquest came to us to fight and fight they did. We lost badly and now live in fear as these great monsters plagued the streets of our cities. For millions of years they have conquered our empire. Those that remained only fight back because they have to. But all in the end that has ended in failure.

The society of man

Man has lived on this earth for only a short time and yet they have established themselves in cities far grander then our own. As an elf I am quite amazed by this species that looks similar to us but more like the Were’s in their hominid form. Humans had already fought amongst themselves and won or lost. They have a thirst for war that many feared and thus humans were never let into our society. As I watched them not all of them are like that. Some want nothing but to live in peace.

These I figured out are called peasants or middle class. They are the hard workers and the laborers doing the deeds that the others who are above them do not. Those above them are the warring ones the ones who want nothing but war and conquest for themselves.

Anyways I begin to digress.

Humans as I found out are quite intelligent and full of imagination; creatures that have lived for a short period of time…and yet have advanced on their own far quicker then our own races have done. I guess they do it because they have such short lives. They are the ones who truly learn how to live before they die. We elves live for centuries before we die and I guess sometimes through the lifetime have forgotten many things.

Or how to feel them from within

Many of my species have become somewhat introverted you should say. They are full of themselves and only wish to become more attuned to nature. Well after living with humans I found that nature has to be felt not condemned.

As I was saying before all this my world was shattered centuries ago, and I wish I could have lived to see the day where our kind and man may one day be as one. The merpeople are somewhat protected from the Gulak-Araiah in their underwater world. But that did not last very long. They are enslaved to do as the demons wished it as are we the elves, vampires, Halflings, Orc, Were, and other creatures of our world. Man was left without guidance and so they seek to evolve on their own into the race they are today. I only wish I could see them evolve further. Man has this fiery spirit that makes even salamanders seem cold.

For we need that spirit if we are to survive
