Chapter Five: Epilogue—Karmic Retribution

I’ve always known that Karma works swiftly, but even I was amazed at the turn around. Roughly two weeks after I quit I heard through Jennifer, who was still working for Surround Sound yet with a much jaded view of the entire place, that not only had the store in north Toronto closed, but the one in St. Catherines was on its way out. Brandon had been spending all his time on the road consolidating stock and closing down shop. It made me laugh at how things were going wrong so quickly. Six months after that I learned that two more of the Surround Sound stores had closed bringing the total down to three. I knew then that it was only a matter of time before the rest bit the dust. Hamilton was the next to go, followed by Cambridge and finally the store that I had been at was the last one standing, but not for long. It too closed and my revenge was complete. Gotta love Karma…
