An Affinity for the Summertime Air

An Affinity for the Summertime Air

By Justin Clodfelter

9-3-2008

I laugh as I see the world go by,

as I see the summer rebirth to fall,

and fall to winter,

I smile as I hear the voices of people

who want nothing to do with me,

who care nothing except themselves,

and their affairs,

I laugh as the leaves should be falling by now,

but instead remain a healthy shade of green,

it brings a warmth to my heart on this,

hot,

humid,

miserable,

day that we have finally felt some relief,

we have finally found a temporary peace before

someone decides to ignite the fire once more.
