Blue: Hello there! I have returned after an extended absence. For those of you waiting on any of my other stories and are probably mad that I'm uploading a new one, I have this to say: THIS IS NOT TECHNICALLY A NEW STORY!! I came up with this one about six years ago and actually got around to writing it four years ago. I made it up to chapter eight and stopped, thus, it's really only halfway done. I'm just deciding to upload it now in case anyone wanted to know how I used to write when compared to now. And no, it's nothing like my other stories becuase it's more realistic. And to my newer readers, hello. I hope you enjoy this story. You probably won't. Here are some things I'd like to make known before you start reading:'
- The LHR stands for this series of stories that are all titled "Love/Hate Relationship." There are four parts to this series, all sixteen chapters long starring two totally different people each time but they all take place in the same area. This just happens to be the first of the series I actually wrote and it's only halfway done.
-I realize this chapter is short. But the first two chapters are always short becuase their only purpose is to introduce the leading characters.
I think that's about it for the moment. I'm not going to update the first two chapters at once. For this story, updates will be random. Most likely I'll update chapter two after I finally write chapter nine which may not come until after I finally update TPATDA or Cliche again (and both of them take forever to transfer the rough draft to MS Word). So, til later, enjoy. Review if you want.
Love/Hate Relationship
Falling in Love Bites
By Courtney V. Timmons
Chapter 1: Jason Thomas
You hear and see stories about falling in love all the time. Sometimes, teenagers such as us claim to be in love even. Though sometimes we question it. What do we know about love at our age anyway? Not a lot. Especially if you’ve never even had a significant other. For instance, say you bump into someone one day at school. You know this person and you see them every single day. But you never talk to them and you avoid them regularly. The only image you two have of each other is how you two act towards other people. You don’t like the way they act, and they don’t like the way you act. Then, something happens that just brings you two closer together. Could that be love? Maybe. Maybe not. Truth is, it’s all up to you whether it’s love or not. The average person does fall in love at least three times in their life. Who’s to say teenagers don’t too.
Let’s get into the actual story now. This story is about two teenagers who don’t get along all because of gossip they hear around the school. That’s how they’re connected. Our leading guy, as the chapter title implies, is a Mr. Jason Thomas.
Jason is a sixteen year old sophomore who is considered to be very popular amongst his peers. He’s very good-looking, if that’s important to you. He has neat black hair and dark green eyes with not-quite-yet tan skin. He’s tall, standing at five foot eight. He pretty much towers over short people. Jason is also a very shallow person. He thinks looks matter more then personality.
Allow me to do a quick scenario. If you meet a very attractive person in school, you may consider asking them out, right? Then you find out the person is a jerk or whines too much and you just can’t stand them. Do you think Jason is the type to just dump them or keep dating them despite the fact that he doesn’t actually like them? If your answer was B, then you my friend are correct!
Jason’s no pretty boy either. You know, one of those guys who care more about how he looks then his girlfriend cares about how she looks. Though, he does keep himself well groomed for the sake of the ladies. I can’t say the same for his room though!
Boy is that a nasty place! There are dirty dishes on the dresser, clothes hanging from the draws, dirty clothes on the door knob, hangers on the floor, and no longer edible food hidden in every possible place you can imagine. If your room looks similar, then maybe you should consider cleaning it.
Some people like playing tricks at other’s expense. Sneaking up on people in dark areas and scaring the ba-jeebas out of them. Playing silly and cruel jokes on April Fool’s Day. That is sort of what Jason likes to do. Him and his best friend, Rick Price. Just recently, the two of them were suspended for setting an electric stove in the school cafeteria on fire. You’re probably wondering why they weren’t expelled. They claimed the whole thing was an accident, but Jason later told everyone it was payback. The boys wanted to payback a lunch lady who had given Rick a tainted sandwich. It resulted in him getting food poisoning and he was out sick for two days. But how was the poor lunch lady to know the sandwich was no good. As Jason had said, “Check the expiration date. You might learn something.”
Even though his tricks can sometimes seem pretty sinister, he is no genius. He doesn’t always think about the results of his actions. Then again, he really just doesn’t care for the results. He’s not the brightest light bulb around. In fact, he’s quit dim. He’s never gotten a grade higher than a C. He actually has a very low attention span. That’s one of the many things he and Rick Price had in common.
Not exactly every girl’s prince charming, but then again, who is? One girl, however, had been regretting ever going out with him. Case Taylor was Jason’s, well, soon to be ex-girlfriend. Jason was too caught up in not observing his girlfriend’s attitude towards him lately.
“Are you still grounded?” Jason asked Rick over the phone on Monday night.
“You know I am. I’m sure you are too.” Rick guessed in response.
Jason nodded, not as though Rick could see it. “Yep. Do you think that the school will ever forget about…you know? The little incident?”
“You mean the fire? That’ll blow over in a few days.” Rick said with a hint of optimism in his voice.
Jason lay on his head with his eyes closed. He seemed to be tired since he yawned. “We have to go back tomorrow, right?”
The yawn seemed contagious since after Jason yawned, Rick yawned as well. “Unfortunately, yes. You’d think they’d give us more than a week. Despite being grounded, I actually enjoyed this little break.”
Jason let out a sigh. “At least one of us did.” He said that because Rick was an only child. So during his punishment, he didn’t have to put up with annoying siblings. Jason’s annoying, and luckily for him, only sibling was Evan Thomas.
How bizarre it was that after Jason had made that statement, Jason’s bedroom door burst open and the slender figure of a tall young lady appeared in the doorway, but quickly retreated. “Uck! Look at this mess!” Evan Thomas exclaimed.
Evan was as tall as her brother which was pretty tall for a girl. Her hair was long, black, and straight. The sides of her sleek hair draped over her shoulders. Her eyes were a very faded green. Her skin was not as tan as her brother. A result of not going out into the sun a whole lot.
To Rick and Jason, Evan was a monster. A demon. A vampire! A blood thirsty creature whose hunger was never satisfied. Jason was glad she was a seventeen year old senior. He looked forward to nothing more than seeing his sister graduate and exeunt from his life, off on her was to sucking what was left of the life from her classmates.
“I need the phone!” She shouted from the doorway.
“I’m not deaf!” Jason shouted back from his place on the bed. That girl had a set of lungs on her. She’d shout for no apparent reason until her voice got hoarse. That was rare to happen, sadly to say.
“Dude!” Rick shouted with alarm in his voice. “If you don’t cut that shouting out, I soon will be!”
Evan gritted her teeth and growled, “Jason!”
Jason’s eyes were partially opened now. “Heard you the first time.”
“I didn’t hear her that time. She growling?” Rick asked.
“You know her too well.” Jason moaned.
“Man, sometimes that girl seems more animal than monster.” Rick yawned again.
Eva, from her place in the doorway, took a deep breath. Her chest expanded. Then, with no warning, she shouted, “RICK! HANG UP!”
“AH!” Rick screamed. Jason could hear him fumbling with the phone. Once he recovered, his voice sounded shaky. “Look, dude. I’m gonna go before she blows my left eardrum. Later!”
“Later.” Jason muttered as he hit the talk button. He tossed the phone to his loud mouth sister who snatched it out of the air, triumphantly. “Why’d you have to do that? For all you know, that could’ve been Case.”
“No,” Evan said dialing a number. “Rick’s the only you talk to using words that actually exist.”
Jason didn’t sit up. If his eyes were open completely, he would have been glaring at her quite annoyed. He rolled onto his stomach and buried his face into his pillow.
Putting the phone to her ear, Evan slung a small, navy blue book bag onto her brother’s back. The bag hit him with a thud. He screamed as a result. The scream was muffled by the pillow, fortunately.
He snatched up the book bag and elevated the top half of his body with his elbow. Now looking furious, he shouted at Evan, “What’s this?”
She grinned. “You’re homework for the past week.”
Jason’s eyes increased in size. “And you’re giving me this NOW?!”
Evan began snickering. As she exited his room, her snicker transformed into a menacing laugh. It faded down the hall.
Jason’s face turned red, obviously out of anger. He thrust the book bag onto the floor. After punching the wall once, her buried his face into his pillow and fell asleep.
--
Jason awoke in the morning. Amazing how time flies when you’re asleep. Of course when the day dawns and it’s come time for you to awaken and face the world, most of us aren’t completely up to it. All Jason wanted was, “Five more minutes.” At least that’s what he muttered to the air. Who actually get straight up the instant their eyelids separate in the morning?
After opening his eyes and closing them once, they shot back open. Reason being he had caught sight of the alarm clock. Six thirty-five a.m. (6:35 a.m.). Jason quickly sat up.
Realizing how much time he had before the bus arrived, and that he hadn’t done diddly of his homework, he knew he had to bolt. Ten minutes! Ten minutes was all he had in his head. That was also when the bus would be arriving.
He simply threw on a clean set of cloths and snatched up his things. Then bolted for the door.
