Chapter 1 – 3 am Meetings
Evie shut the door behind her and locked it, using all three locks. She threw down her bag, upon the impact, all the contents spilled onto the floor but she let them be. She sat down at her desk and opened the blinds slightly. Just enough of a view to the inside would be good.
She typically spent 8 hours a day writing. She didn’t do much else; except eat, sleep, go to work and class. She used to have a roommate, but she got scared away pretty quickly. Everyone left pretty quickly. A talent, they said, she had for causing people to do that. She didn’t care what they called it, she had her priorities and having friends wasn't one of them right now. And she didn’t mind it, she enjoyed work. She liked the routine she had herself in.
She wrote furiously for hours till her head fell to her page and she fell asleep.
KNOCK
She lifted her head. Who the hell was coming by…she glanced at the clock…at three o clock in the morning.
Cursing under her breathe she grudgingly got up and slowly made her way to the door.
"What the fuck do you want?" She asked.
The guy standing there raised his eyebrows. He had soft brown hair with a natural wave to it. He was wearing jeans and a dark grey t-shirt which made his piercing blue eyes stand out. He wasn't that bad looking, wait what? Lack of sleep must be making her delusional. She didn’t have the time for things like this.
"What appropriate language for a girl."
She frowned, "It's three in the morning. What do you want?"
"Well I had some questions for you actually-"
"Can they wait till later this morning?" She interrupted.
He paused and she tapped her foot rudely, "I…guess so."
"Good." She closed the door with a huff, she had every intention of avoiding his questions and quickly made her way to bed.
Quinn stood shocked. His roommate Tom hadn’t been lying. She was defiantly a girl with rough edges, but it hadn't helped his case that he pushed his luck trying to talk to her at this time.
As much as Tom had warned him about her, he couldn't help himself from being intrigued by this Evelyn. Why was she so quick to shut people out? She had the most beautiful emerald eyes too. He wondered if people even noticed them or cared to look past her icy attitude and indifference.
He walked down the hall, he wasn't going to give up on trying to find out more though.
