The Better Side of Me.
(Hour of the Bored Teen...more like The Day of the Bored Teen...)

I step lightly onto my floor. The rug feels considerably prickly under my feet. I walk over to my nearby slippers, and open my bedroom door. Light floods my way, blinding me.
Damn sunlight...so early in the morning...
I head into my closet and pick out some clothes...meh, I'll be slacker today...
I take the stairs two at a time down to the kitchen. My mother is already there, making me breakfast. Oh joy...she knows eggs make me sick...maybe I can skip school today on account of a potential stomach flu...
I hear the rumbling of an engine outside. I pull the curtains away and peer out the window. It's my boyfriend on his motorcycle, waiting to take me to school. Hm, he's early today...
I take a piece of toast and rush out the front door (no "potential stomach flu" plan...). I grasp his leather jacket and pull him down for a short smooch before finding my helmet on the back seat where I sit.
"Sorry I'm earlier than usual this morning...had to go meet a friend at the coffee shop..."
I nod my acceptance of his not needed apology. Straightening my helmet on my very little head, I hop on the seat and hug Darren's waist. The loud roar of the starting engine and the puff of smoke is all we leave for my mother to remember that she never really did approve of Darren, just that his first impression was sweet and "comical", as my mother had put it. Bah! What does she know!

We got to the school fence where he dropped me off to go park his cycle. I walked briskly over the saturated grass, dampening my sneakers and socks. Yeah, what a great way to start a morning.

I walk inside the already bustling building. No sign of Yuki yet...she's usually waiting at her locker... Strolling over to my own locker, I start slowly turning the combination lock. I'm unsuccessful the first time. Again, having the numbers in my head, I turn my lock over. In the midst of it, I'm interrupted by a shadow cast on the yellow metal door. I look up to see Yuki's smiling face looking down on me.
"Konichiwa! I was looking for you!"
I drop my lock and pick up my various bags. I glanced at Yuki's hair. Perfect, as always. Today it was put up in those cute buns on each side. What Japanese tradition...
"I looked at your locker and you weren't there...I supposed you went to Homeroom already."
She shook her head. "Never do. I hate homeroom." She gave me a smug look. "Where's Darren?"
I giggle at her. "Went to park the motorcycle of his. I rode it again this morning..."
She grunted. "Again? You ride almost everyday now. You never come with me on the bus. I'm always stuck with Magnes...uh...Magnes..."
I stifle a laugh. "Sorry. But me and Darren are like this." I tie my index and middle finger together. "Tomorrow I PROMISE I'll come to your house and pick you up for the bus, and I'll sit with you."
She smiled that crooked smile of hers that I adore. "Alright. I'm holding you to your word."
I nod, and with books in hand, head to my first class.

Science. What a drag. You know those classes where the teacher just rumbles and lectures all class long, and the seconds seem to pass by so slowly, and you feel like your trapped in bordum. You anticipate the bell to ring, but the more you stare at the clock, the longer it seems to take? Well this is a great example of just that. And it just gets worse since Yuki nor Sonya are in my science class. Uh...science...plus the teacher's a total nerd...you know, the glasses, the tucked in shirt with baggy pants...yeah. Screams nerd, now doesn't it? Well, at the moment we're in the middle of a HUGE lecture...about reproduction...or something like that...well I'm guessing reproduction, just cause the guys are all laughing and staring at the screen so intently...maybe I should take the time to look myself...OH god no...THAT"S why guys are so content on watching the overhead...ANYWAY...I just start doodling on the looseleaf page in front of me. No one really notices the sketching noise of the pencil going over the paper, even through the basically dead-silence. I totally blanked out into my own little world...a world filled with sketch sketch sketch, and soft distant music humming in the background...the real world just went hazy...fuzzy...time slowed. Not like the bordum slow. Like the only thing happening is what only you can see and hear and feel. The rest is just nothing. But the moment is soon over, awakened by the buzzing of the next bell. Reality doesn't register until I look at my nerdy teacher sitting at his desk, and I finally figured that I hadn't done anything. I'm probably going to have a hard time tomorrow...oh well.

At home
(And not at school...obviously...)

Supper. What great smell that wafted into my bedroom door while I did the rest of that damn homework...due tomorrow by the way... Sonya totally yelled at me because I forgot the notes for our project...what was I suppsed to do? I didn't get enough sleep to remember that! Anyway, I found the notes under my bed when I was sitting on my newly mopped floor. Not like I woulda' looked under there that early in the morning any how. Mother's calling me for supper. I can finally see what's making that delicious smell.

Alright, so it smelled better than it tasted...roast beef was what it was. And it looked better too. It looked amazing on the plate, but when i went to take a bite...even when I was cutting it...it was so hard and chewy...NOTHING what roast beef should be. I finished half of it before mom left the kitchen...then I threw the rest out...I just ate some of it to make her feel good. I'm not that mean.

But I washed it down really good with some of that juice I made. And I have icecream in my hand right now...oops, I'm getting it on the paper...I'll check in tomorrow...without sticky hands...

January the Fifteenth.
(Meaning yesterday was the Fourteenth...)

I wake up to a soft rug today. At least I don't have to wear my slippers. Slipping into my favorite jeans that are sprawled out on the floor, I find a shirt in my room closet (I have two closets, if you didn't notice).
I spot my old teddy bear on the floor, on the foot of my bed. I forgot I even had it in my room. But I would never give it away. It's too old, and it's been with me too long to just toss it out unthoughtfully. I set it on my unmade bed, and run down the stairs, tripping over the last couple steps. Thrusting into the kitchen, I find my mother isn't there.
Yes! Score!
I grab a granola bar fromt he cupboard and nibble on it mindlessly. There's a magazine on the side table in the living room. It's a reader's digest...on the cover a peice of sugar filled cake...looks a lot like just shit to me. All I'm thinking of this is, Wow...they're liars...this can't help you lose weight...what the fuck?!
I tear away from the magazine and glance at the clock. Damn it. I have to leave now or me and Yuki will be late for the bus.

The Long Sickening Bus Ride.
(Hour of the Messed Up Magnes)

"Finally!"
Yuki cries from her front porch. I run the rest of the way.
"You should have left earlier! The bus should be here any minute!"
I bow my head. "Sorry..."
Sighing, she gives me a hug. I naturally hate hugs. But I guess Yuki could be an exception...this time.
Welll...the bus rolls in to halt in front of us. Clambering over the steps, and shyly slipping into the next available seat, take out our schedules for the (what seems like) the millionth time this semester.
"I still miss my Geography class..."
"I never remember which side my Mathematics class is."
We gaze at the paper for a while longer til our heads hurt from all the letters that seem to clump together into something barely readable from the bumping of the bus. Magnes sticks her head up over the seat. I jump, startled. I had no idea she was even there.
"Hey you guys! What's up! Whatcha doing!? It's so nice having you guys here to ride the bus with me! It's such nice day isn't it!? What do you have for lunch?!"
Her rambling of questions seems unbearable. But we have to put up with it. We just seem to zone her out...her droning becoming nothing but a buzz...

Finally screeching to a stop at school (after the so many of the various other stops we made), we sigh with relief. We ran into the school doors and grabbing our stuff from both our lockers which turned out to be quite the hassle, parted to our ways to our homerooms. Now, I know I said earlier me and Yuki NEVER go to homeroom, but it was over the intercom that we go to homeroom for an "important" message. Seemed urgent by the sound of it. It's not like we can just wave it away can we? Well, first bell just rang...let's tackle that announcement! (NOT...)
