Remembrance

How I’m here,

I do not know,

Lying on concrete,

Laden with snow,

I don’t feel pain,

Though I think I just fell,

Numbness is spreading,

I know I’m unwell,

People walk by,

Without a second glace,

I feel so rejected,

By my very last chance,

Someone approaches me,

As the light fades away,

Two strong arms lift me,

From where I lay,

My voice is severed,

I can’t speak clearly,

But I choke out the question,

“Will you remember me?”
