Listen

Hold onto my hand,
I’m falling so fast,
So sudden,
So far…

Save me,
Just this once,
Won’t you please?
I swear I’ll never lean on you again…

You deny my hand,
And I die a bit more inside.

My pride is broken,
My soul; shattered,
And I can’t do this again.

So I float,
Lifeless and fake,
Just drifting through this world,
Praying not to be hit again,
By that torturous pain.

I dodge the bullet a few times,
Just protect me this once,
I just need you for now,
And I’ll leave you after,
I swear.

So why did you walk away?

I’ve been shot once more,
The tears forcing their way back out,
Dripping with humiliation,
Each droplet taking a piece of me with it.

Just walk away again,
I beg you,
Don’t see me this way,
I pray and pray you’d do this for me,
Just listen this once,
Do as I say.

And for once,
You listen.
