Moonlight dapples red bricks grayed

In beguiling shadows,

Darkened windows hardened against

The night’s wiles, I am poised

To enter at every grate,

Fog through window bars—

Silent entry gained, not by force—

Insatiable desire in darkened beds

Pleasures proffered fantasies,

Intertwined in loving embraces known.

Consummating lust satisfies restlessness

Though Apollo chastises dark excitement

With clean lightéd pleasantries—

But all day long we cherish

Hopes that night will come once again.
