I know, incredibly short chapter, bad Yami. -Smacks self- But you'll see. I don't think I'll be reposting any variation of A Guard's Heart, so therefore though this will be a sort of sequel, I'll be vaguely inserting little reminders of what happened. Be forewards, this is intense yaoi. Also has a little yuri, though not much.
(Prologue. Systems)
The Demon Realm was, all in all, ruled by several systems. There was, of course, the King and Queen. But they did not rule alone, nor could they make decisions alone. Unlike the Human Realm, there were not multiple countries with multiple languages. No, it was a universal place that used every language possible occasionally.
Beneath the king was the High Council, often called the Council for short. There was a speaker, one who called out the words and decrees but was generally one of lower power. Then there were the two highest chairmen –occasionally the chairwomen- who were much more powerful then normal. As of right now, the first chairman of the Council was Vladimir Zolovsky, a handsome young man who hailed from the Russian villages and spoke with a slight accent. He was a handsome man with a kind heart and a powerful hand, blessed with a quick mind but cursed with a sickly body. Second chairman was Mikaru Smith, a quick-tempered man with a hot head and an all-too-quick fist. He was bad-tempered but interestingly handsome, cursed with a temper and blessed with power.
Below the High Council was the Command, known not as the police force –as some would think- but as the force keeping things together. They ran around, often looking like police but not acting as them, and made sure laws were being followed. Rarely were they included in wars, but they were known for their keeping the peace of the villages.
And of course, there were the higher law enforcement managers. The Elite Guard, they were known as. It was divided into six divisions, power level growing from one to six. The one who headed it all was called the commander, and the six captains beneath him were powerful in different ways. Nearly a century had passed since Commander Suataru had made his way up to the top, despite his crippled left leg. Just below him in power and command was the captain of the sixth division, Roku Shadow. Both were known for their fiery tempers, Roku more so than his commander. There was the fifth division captain, Kitaro Forest, and the fourth captain, Anikira. Anikira was one of three females in the captaincy, the other two being second division captain Sariki Otamu and first division captain Mika Busoni. The third division captain, Niwa Rivers, was the lover of Kitaro. In a similar way, Roku was the lover of his first lieutenant Nuruki Rivers, younger brother of Niwa.
Yet there was still one present in several meetings. Most knew her as Yurei Nightmare, or Nemo Nightmare. Her real name was hidden from the public. She was an assassin and a dark being; present only to help obliterate enemies. She was Roku’s older sister, a powerful woman who frightened even the king. Ironically, she called Vladimir ‘master’ despite the fact that her abilities outdid his. He did not understand it, but he did not mind it. She was a damn good ally to have and a terrible enemy to make, especially given the fact that she could not die.
The balance between light and dark had been broken, however. Now the light was gaining strength and trying to overcome the dark in the form of an ancient, sealed-off city called Babylon. Babylon had long been a problem for the Demon Realm, always seeming to need either protection from the Elite Guard or assistance with funds. Roku and his sister wanted no part of the place. Particularly Nightmare. She seemed to have a hate for it greater then her usual abilities, and that was terrifying. She hated most things.
Now, though…things began to shift into battle.
