The Sky Is Ours For Tonight
(originally posted on my other account)
--
You gaze at the sky, silently wondering when the stars will unveil their secrets. And one by one, they all fall, crashing into the horizon. And one by one, every piece of your heart shatters, turning into dust with just the touch of your fingers.
Your tears taint the sky as it starts to rain. The heavens seem to weep with you. Drama doesn’t suit you so let’s just call this a tragedy – a tale of unrequited love. It’s not that he did this intentionally to destroy you. He doesn’t know. You didn’t tell him. He loves someone else, anyway, so what would be the use in letting him know. It would only complicate matters.
Making him happy doesn’t mean that you have to break your heart in the process. But, of course, you didn’t know that. You seem to think that being a martyr is precisely the right thing to do at the moment.
You love him enough to let him go.
And I, being an amateur in these things, don’t know what to say to you that you don’t already know.
I guess you can ask me for counsel later, when I actually have experience on the matter.
I have no advices to give and no lessons to teach.
Love is.
Love doesn’t have a definition.
It’s not just a feeling, it’s a decision and a responsibility.
Whoever you give your heart to, it’s your choice.

As for me, I’ll still keep on writing poetry about friendship, love, fantasy and generally about life because. Just because. I really don’t have a reason. It’s just that I love to write and writing is my passion.
And they really should have a genre for heartbreak ;)
