Remember When
Remember when
I was a girl
So innocent
Frail and lovely
Without a fear
That no one knew.
I could not be
Alone for long
But soon enough
I realized that
I truly was alone.
Remember now
Those days of old
When I could see
My dad and smile.
But then I saw
What he was like
And soon began
Years of hating
That man who made me smile.
Remember when
I turned away
From the taunting
Of those others;
Even people
Who were to be
My closest friends.
I learned to hate
And was alone
Truly alone
In a way that
No one would understand.
Remember when
I was broken
And no person
Could heal my wings
So I was stranded
Unfamiliar
In this strange world.
Engulfed was I
By all these words
That I could say
But was desperate
To create on paper.
Remember when
I became healed
By a new man
Who made me smile
And also cry,
Who made it so
My dear mother
Could love again.
No longer lost
And not stranded
I found my wings
So I could fly
And take my place in life.
Remember now
Who I became
Never alone
With a small smile
Not just for me
But others, too.
The once lonely
Person I was
Changed in those years
And became beautiful.
Remember now
These white, spread wings
Cannot be harmed
While I can smile
Even if I
Remember when
I could not fly
Because I will
Look towards the heavens.

Kanna-sama: Interpret as you will. I was reminiscing, frustrated with this upcoming fall, so there is a hidden meaning to the concept of having wings: you just have to wonder about it. Please leave a review, telling me how you liked it. Ciao!
