A wolf is lulled by the rising moon
as it anticipates the end
of the sad song of a lonely loon.

Why does the sky hold this mournful tune?
As tranquility does descend
and a wolf is lulled by the rising moon.

Morning is coming soon
and daylight will extend
upon the sad song of a lonely loon.

Hope lives on; till dawn it croons
and broken souls it mends
as a wolf is lulled by the rising moon.

Darkness now weakens and swoons
foretelling night’s impending end
and the sad song of a lonely loon.

Darkness and light both shall attune
And bird and beast amend.
The wolf is lulled by the falling moon
and the sad song of a lonely loon.

A/N: This is a villanelle that I wrote for my English class. Please let me know what you think, and if you can actually make any sense of it.
