the end, it seems so near

every step so vital

The silence broken cautiously

edgy conversations sound

unconditional love

Don’t I get a say in this?

Everything whimsically frustrates

My mind’s become a toy

“just play with your dolly”

Can dolly say no?

She feels the broken ending

It’s so close she can taste

She pulls herself together

Why not, for old times sake?

Dolly sits so very still and

Waits to be tousled for

It will be the last time

“Dolly, where have you gone?”
